When given a chance to become a student or a teacher, we probably would choose none because of the ups and downs faced in both categories. Yet, at the same time, we can’t avoid being a student because we’ve gone through that phase once in life. So what does a scenario at the school look like?
Throughout school life, we are reminded of getting good marks to be selected in the top colleges, which would pave the way for getting recruited in a top company paying thousands of dollars as salary.
On the other hand, teachers are busy handling fussy children, angry parents, and even tenure repudiation. If you ever want to taste school life through the eyes of both students and a teacher, then there is no best way besides watching “The Chair”.
The Chair is The Newest Drama on Netflix, which is trying to get up in the Top 10 list via its comprehensive view of school life, which gives detailed information about a Teacher’s life and a Student’s life and the pressures faced besides the academic burden.

The Series starts with Ji-Yoon telling her colleagues that enrollment in their courses is down at the English department meeting. The Dean instructed Ji-Yoon to eliminate and evacuate three members from her English department due to low enrollment. Ji-Yoon tells Yaz she should combine her lecture section with Elliot’s class.
In the combined class, Elliot behaves toward Yaz like a teaching apprentice rather than another co-professor. Bill comes to the University tripping over drunk and accidentally telecasts an intimate video of him and his wife to the students. Furthermore, The following day, Bill again arrives late to class and uses the Nazi salute to teach absurdism and fascism.
Bill forcibly kisses Ji-Yoon, to which she adamantly stops Bill from going any further. He comes to her office the following day to ask her to rethink, and they both see students outside Ji-Yoon’s window protesting against Bill for the Nazi salute.
At the disciplinary proceeding, Bill forbids writing a public apology for the Nazi salute. Instead, he addresses the students all by himself, saying he is proud of the students’ disagreement. Ji-Yoon is upset with Bill because the bill isn’t considering matters following Bill’s out. He arrogantly walks away from the consequences of his action.
Watch what happens next all by yourself only on Netflix. Will Ji-Yoon be able to save Bill from the outcomes of the Nazi Salutes? Will she be able to control the deduction of faculties from her department?
When would The Chair Season 2 Get Released?
Source:- Google
The most important thing to note is that Netflix has not officially renewed “The Chair” for the second season in any official press release, nor has it been cancelled. The first season of The Chair was released on August 20, 2021, so the showrunners and their entire team would likely wait to review the reactions of the viewers and fans for like a month or two after release. However, there are some reasons to be optimistic.
The show seemingly has become one of the blockbusters with subscribers. The show faced no problem becoming one of the Top 10 most-watched TV shows on Netflix soon after it came out. And there is a plus point when it comes to the reviews, critical acclamation, IMDB ratings, and Rotten Tomatoes.
If Netflix ever renews “The Chair” for its Second Installment, the production would hopefully commence soon. Most TV shows take around 12 to 14 months after their renewal to get released, and this time, considering COVID Pandemic being a huge halt, we may expect The Chair Season 2 to go on air by September to October 2022.
Official Teaser Trailer Released
The show hasn’t been renewed for its Second Season, and if ever it is renewed, it might take another year to get released. So taking into consideration the speculated release date between September to October 2022, we might expect an official teaser trailer by August 2022 or September 2022 at the most.

If ever “The Chair” renews for its Season 2, the cast is expected to remain the same. Sandra Oh would return as Dr Ji-Yoon Kim, who went through one ordeal and hardship throughout the first season. In addition, Jay Duplass, who plays the role of Bob Dobson, might return after all that mess he created last season.
Other actors expected to return include Bob Balaban as Dr Elliot Rentz, Holland Taylor as Dr Joan Hambling, David Morse as Dean Paul Larson, Everly Carganilla as Ju-Hee Kim, and Nana Mensah as Dr Yaz McKay. In addition, we may expect some new characters to pop up on the screen as it is the new year in any new school.
Expected Plot for The Chair Season 2
Source: Google“The Chair” Season 1 ended nicely with so many plot-tied-up strings, but a few laggers still require proper explanation and resolution. The Season Finale illustrated Ji-Yoon forfeiting her chair position within the English department in Pembroke University, and she handed it over to another eligible, competent woman- Joan. Ji-Yoon appears more focused on maintaining better relationships with her family members alongside underscoring and emphasising her students’ needs in the process altogether.
Eventually, The Chair took a good, hard look with precision at the widespread racism and sexism that still exists within higher education. Ji-Yoon may have been the first Asian woman to chair as the English department head at Pembroke University. However, she still strived to utilize and brandish this newfound power.
She discovered that it is more than just expelling and terminating a problematic professor if we change the educational system. Even with the Power of the Chair of the English Department, she had to face the odds of termination of one of her faculties.
She needs to change the system from the inside, so forthcoming prospective seasons could continue to explore that idea. Ji-Yoon might bring some notable revolutionary changes in the Education field.
