In quite a few years, the Internet has proven to be the most effective and important source for every sphere of life. From Technology to Household Chores to Agriculture to Law and Order and so much more, the Internet helps a lot. But everything that seems good always has a dark side. The Dark Side has been shown in the miniseries Clickbait.
Clickbait shows the unexpected nature of the Internet in today’s era. Honestly, the Internet has revealed its most dangerous and vulnerable side. The Dark Web has many anonymous identities that are ready to trap you. Well, the only ingredient you should have with you is courage and vigilance. The Series follows the same pattern where a web of embezzling identities drives the central kidnapping and cracks the case; a similar host of technological witchcraft and innovative online applications are used intriguingly. The Series shows the pertinent and sharp reminder of the many possible ways anonymous identities can channel their darkest impulses online and how the internet gets amplified, heightened, and enhanced.
The American-Australian Streaming Drama Series shows the dark side of the internet and how the darkest impulse travels into your mind. The Series is created by the duo Christian White and Tony Ayres, and both have done their best to carve the most unique, admirable, and worthy Internet Mystery. As the Direction Heads, we have the quadruple Brad Anderson, Emma Freeman, Ben Young, and Laura Besley. The Series was initially released on 25th August 2021, having eight episodes in the first season.
While the series has neutral votes and criticisms, it still manages to get indexed with an IMDB rating of 7.1/10 and has 57% of Rotten Tomatoes. Surprisingly, even after so many objections, 92% of the viewers admired the series.
Starring Adrian Grenier, Betty Gabriel, Zoe Kazan, Phoenix Raei, Abraham Lim, Jessie Collins, Ian Meadows, Daniel Henshall, Steve Mouzakis, Motell Foster, Jaylin Fletcher, and Cameron Engels in their respective primary roles.

As the Detectives, Police Officials, and Family Members try to join the clues that would eventually help solve the case. Still, the primary and fundamental question lies: who made Nick’s virtual online life which ended up being real.
When would Clickbait Season 2 Get Released?
Clickbait season 1 premiered on 25th August 2021 on the biggest OTT platform Netflix. Season 1 contained eight episodes, and all of them were released simultaneously, having a running time of 40 to 45 minutes.
As of now, we have no confirmations regarding Clickbait Season 2; there have been no official announcements from Netflix or showrunners as to whether it has renewed it or not. Considering the show is booked as a miniseries, there are decent chances that only one season of the tense thriller mystery is all we would get. However, considering that the previous story had its season finale with some cliffhangers and didn’t even solve the mystery of that sinister plan, we have fair chances that we might get to see the second instalment of Clickbait.
The Plot is essentially all tied up, with the central mystery coming to a definitive yet menacing conclusion as if something evil will happen. Lateral stories (like that of Tara and Matt) are also tied up. Therefore, the story hooked from the first season seems to be over, and it is unlikely that a second season will get renewed.
However, if we look at the central idea of the miniseries, it takes the audience. It gives them the idea about the Dark web and the threat of the anonymity of the persons along with their dark influence and the significance of the internet and social media in the lives of common people is showing the potential to the renewal of Clickbait Season 2 because these topics are very much intriguing, eye-catching and engaging.
If the Season is ever-renewed, then we’ve to wait at least one year after its renewal because of the Production Process going alongside the Pandemic hovering over our heads. So there is a possibility we may expect Clickbait Season 2 to premiere between October to December 2022, but it’s just mere speculation.
When Can We Expect an Official Teaser Trailer?
If we go with the speculated Release Date between October to December 2022, we might expect an official teaser trailer by the end of September 2022 to the end of November 2022.
However, you all may go and enjoy Clickbait Season 1 on Netflix.
Who all would be Returning in Clickbait Season 2?
Since we have no official knowledge about the second instalment what I feel season 1 came to a definitive yet menacing conclusion, we feel the story wouldn’t be the same, maybe a different plot with some different cast members may be there, including some of the main and supporting characters along with many new faces which would be unknown.
As of now, Season 1 revolves around the family of the kidnapped victim Nick Brewer (Adrian Grenier), which includes his sister Pia (Zoe Kazan), his wife Sophie (Betty Gabriel), their sons Kai (Jaylin Fletcher), and Ethan (Camaron Engels), and Nick and Pia’s mother Andrea (Elizabeth Alexander). Other important characters are Detective Roshan Amir (Phoenix Raei), Ben Park (Abraham Lim), Matt Aldin (Ian Meadows), Emma Beesley (Jessica Collins), and Dawn Gleed (Becca Lish).
The supporting characters include Curtis Hamilton (Motell Gyn Foster), Zach De Luca (Steve Mouzakis), Simon Burton (Daniel Henshall), Vince (Jack Walton), Tara (Grace Quealy), and Ed Gleed (Wally Dunn).
Expected Plot for Clickbait Season 2
Season 1 ends with a series of twists resulting in Nick’s son Kai getting kidnapped by Dawn Gleed, a homely, hideous woman who used to work with the victim, and her husband, Ed. As the police, along with Sophie and Pia, frantically try to trace Kai, it is revealed that Nick came to Dawn’s house to confront her about why did she steal his identity. During the argument between Nick and Dawn & Ed came up from behind and bludgeoned Nick, which resulted in Nick’s death. Back in the present, Kai manages to escape from where he’s confined and is chased by Ed, who has a gun. However, with the due luck of Kai, authorities appear at the right time and rescue Kai. Ed then experiments with firing his gun and is fatally shot by one of the policemen then and there in the same scene.
If ever there is a renewal for Season 2, there would be a different plot about another crime committed through the internet that centres around stolen and anonymous online identities. Countless crimes can arise from identity theft, with each being terrible in the real world.
