The Series proudly broke every social barrier that stopped women from doing something for themselves. The Premise of Season 1 (Spoiler Alert)

Set In late 1958, Miriam Maisel is an American Jewish Housewife who lives in Manhattan. She is wedded to Joel, a businessman who works in a Plastic Company in the day and by night a stand-up comedian. Unfortunately, Joel cheats on Miriam and leaves her for another woman who’s his secretary.

Feeling Cheated, Miriam drank a lot, went to Gaslight Cafe, and performed a spontaneous and voluntary act. She addresses the audience about the incidents that happened to her. On the one hand, the audience loved her performance, but on the other hand, she got arrested due to showing her breasts in public which was categorized under obscenity and nudity.

For her livelihood, she, along with her two children, moved in with her parents. Mrs Maisel makes ends meet by working at a departmental cosmetics store to get all the required materials.

To pursue her career as a Comedian, she contacts various comedians, among whom was Sophie Lennon. Lennon advised Mrs Maisel to inculcate dual personality, one for stage and one which is her own.

During an act, Midge unveils that Lennon is a rich, affluent, snobbish socialite, because of which she was blocked from every club. Eventually, with the help of Lenny and Susie, Midge performs again, proving herself to be a proficient comedian. On the other Joel spies on Midge and feels dejected, and realizes the talent in her.

In the end, Miriam Midge Maisel selects her stage name to be Mrs Maisel, which eventually becomes the title of the Series. The Series will premiere on November 24, 2021, on Amazon Prime.
