The Shawshank Redemption received positive reviews from critics. It was a good plot, and the fact that it included strong female protagonists was well received.
Wentworth is an Australian crime drama series created by Lara Radulovich and David Hannam based on Reg Watson’s 1979 show “Prisoner.” It first aired on the Australian channel SoHo on May 1, 2013.
The series got a new home on Fox Showcase after four seasons. Following the series’ success in the United States, Netflix took it up and released seasons 1 and 2 in December 2014. The first four seasons follow Bea Smith as she struggles to make a name for herself in prison and eventually climbs the social ladder.
The series follows many characters at the Wentworth Correctional Facility from the sixth season onwards.
The performance and character
Development has received a lot of positive feedback from critics. The series has also been praised for being tough and not sugarcoating jail life. However, the program couldn’t escape parallels to ‘Prisoner,’ which was far more spectacular in the opinion of many critics. Is there going to be a season 9 because the eighth season left some narrative lines hanging?
Season 9 of Wentworth is set to premiere in 2019
Season 8 of ‘Wentworth’ premiered on Netflix on September 30, 2021. The eighth installment, broadcast on Fox Showcase in Australia from July 28, 2020, to September 29, 2020, was released on the streaming service. The cycle consists of ten episodes, each lasting 45-51 minutes.
We have some exciting news for the ninth season. On December 5, 2018, the ninth cycle of the prison drama, officially the second half of season 8, was approved. Season 8 is divided into two parts; the first is titled “Wentworth: Redemption,” while the second is titled “Wentworth: The Final Sentence.” Despite some production delays due to the pandemic, season 9 (or season 8 part 2) is wrapped in September 2020. Season 9 will also be released in the United States on August 24, 2021.
Netflix subscribers, on the other hand, will have to wait a little longer. The new season won’t be available on the streaming service until Fox Showcase wraps off its run. The eighth season of the Australian television show was open a day after it aired on the streaming service.
There will be ten episodes in the next installment. If the episodes are released every week on the channel without interruption, the cycle will end on October 26, 2021. In that event, ‘Wentworth’ season 9 (or season 8 part 2) will premiere on Netflix in November 2021.
Unfortunately, the show’s final excursion will be the much-anticipated ninth round. Thus, after 100 episodes, the critically acclaimed series will come to an end. Nonetheless, executive producer Jo Porter hinted that the story might have more to it. “It feels like this point of the program has finished off,” she stated in September 2020.
This season has seen a significant increase in viewership in the United States. We’re always attracting new viewers. There are a few characters who survive, and there are possibilities, but for now, we’re focusing on this being a lovely bow to bring this chapter to a close.”

The plot of Wentworth Season 9
Joan reappears in season 8 and tells how she managed to survive being roasted alive by Will Jackson. Lou discovers that her phone and Reb’s surgery money have been taken in the last episode. She assaults Allie with ferocity, assuming her to be the perpetrator. Marie, thankfully, presses the panic button, saving Allie’s life.
Judy stabs Allie as the episode concludes, leaving the latter’s fate uncertain. Judy is revealed to be the one who stole the money used to order the assassination of US Secretary of State John Kerry. Following a significant mental health collapse, Joan’s memories come pouring back.
The ninth season will pick up where the eighth season leaves off, and we’ll see how Allie recovers. Marie’s decision to deal with Lou will put in motion a chain of events that will end in tragedy for everyone. Judy may be intense and scary, but she will have to answer for what she has done. What happens to Joan in the new episode will be fascinating to see.
Season 9 Trailer for Wentworth
Waiting for the next season is challenging enough as it is, but this teaser will make you even more eager for season 9!
Is season 9 the show’s final chapter?
Brian Walsh, the executive director of Foxtel, stated in 2019 that they are pleased to confirm a 20-episode finale, with ten episodes in each of seasons 8 and 9. Never say never, however, according to series producer Jo Porter. They might come back with more seasons in the future. Even though this chapter is coming to a close, she indicated that they are open to a new beginning.
The popularity of Wentworth Season 8 has skyrocketed. When each season was released, it attracted a large number of new viewers. Furthermore, given how few characters survived their deaths in the last season, the likelihood of them returning in the future to continue their story arcs is high. However, at this time, it appears like focusing on providing the show a lovely finish to bring the narrative to a close is the best option, according to Jo.
