Pirates of the Caribbean needs no introduction. Jerry Bruckheimer will produce Pirates Of The Caribbean 6. The famous movie franchise is of course based on one of Walt Disney’s main theme park attractions by the same name.
The directors of the series are Gore Verbinski, who directed the first three movies, and Rob Marshall who directed the fourth edition of the movie. Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg together directed the fifth edition of the film. The upcoming 6th edition of this blockbuster franchise will be led by Joachim Ronning, while Craig Mazin writes the forthcoming movie.
The story of the Pirates of the Caribbean is based in the Caribbean seas. A fictionalized era when Pirates roamed the ocean freely. And that period can be called the golden age of pirates, where Pirates and Navys of different countries fight to establish their area of influence. The show tells us about the adventures of the famous or infamous Pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, Will Turner, and Elizabeth Swann.
The series premiered in 2003, with their first movie named “Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”. Both fans and critics highly appreciated this movie. It grossed about 654 million US dollars. This movie made Johnny Depp an overnight star with his excellent acting as Captain Jack Sparrow. However, Dead Man’s Chest was the franchise’s highest earned movie and became the number 1 movie of the year. With a total box office earning of 1.1 billion dollars worldwide. He was followed by the fourth movie, On Strangers tide, which made 1 billion US in box office sales.
Release Date And Expected Plot
There are no new updates related to the sixth edition of the franchise as of yet. However, in 2017 producer Jerry Bruckheimer did give fans some hints that the sixth movie is under development. While speculations were still up, another major event took place the same year. In October 2017, Kaya Scodelario was brought on board for her return in the sixth movie. And shortly after this incident, Joachim Ronning also joined as a director. Now, these two events made it clear that a sixth instalment is on its way.
Significant progress came when a report suggested that the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise took Karen Gillan as the lead role. And Jerry Bruckheimer also, in an interview, commented that the first draft of the Pirates of the Caribbean 6 was soon to be finished.
In the early months of 2021, Disney suggested that they were planning to diversify the current story to include more people of colour, especially women. This came following the announcement made by Disney in 2020 June. There will be a female-led spin-off having Christina Hodson as the screenplay writer and Margot Robbie.
There is no confirmed official release date announced by Disney yet.
Talking about the plot, there are no confirmed reports. But fan theories suggest that it might have a female captive who becomes a pirate. As per other reports, the plot will develop and might not lead to any previous storylines. However, Deadman tells no tale; we have seen a silhouette of davy jones in the end, suggesting that the evil monster might return from his death. In an interview, Sean Bailey, the chief of Film Productions at Disney, stated that the new movie would bring new energy and vitality.
Will Johnny Depp Return as Captain Jack Sparrow
Since the release of the first movie in 2003, Johnny Depp has become the alternate image of the famous franchise. Johnny Depp became an overnight star with its release as the main anti-hero character Captain Jack Sparrow. His popularity only grew over the next few movies. It is safe to assume that Captain Jack Sparrow has more fans than the franchise itself. And Fans can’t even imagine a Pirates of the Caribbean movie without Johnny Depp in it.
However, things are not so easygoing for the hero. And something came to an anticlimax after Johnny and his ex-wife Amber Heard filed for Divorce. Amber accused Johnny of domestic abuse. Which already started to make a significant impact on Johnny’s carrier. He sued The Sun last year for defamation after the UK tabloid called Johnny Depp a “Wife Beater”. But Unfortunately, Mr Depp lost his final appeal after the court denied his request for overturning the ruling, which took Mr Depp to a dead end in his legal battle in an attempt to clear his name.
This ruling has put his return to the sets of the Pirates of the Caribbean in doubt. Even though Johnny is planning to sue Amber in the US. The Warner Bros have removed him from the fantastic beast franchise. Where Johnny has made quite an impression as Gellert Grindelwald. However, Disney has made no such official announcement about their franchise yet.
Which gives fans some hope of seeing the legend back in his roles. To keep him in the pirates of the Caribbean and to stop Disney from expelling him. Fans have shown massive support, with a petition topping more than 500,000 thousand signatures currently. There are also rumours that Disney is not too much happy with Amber Heard. But this does not confirm the return of Captain Jack Sparrow’s children’s favourite character on the screen. And fans doubt that without the return of Johnny Depp, the upcoming movie might not perform like the previous ones at the box office.
Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the longest-running franchise chains of Disney, running successfully for over 20 years now.
With the hints of a new movie on the plate, the expectations are high. But the production house has not yet announced an official release date. Neither are they coming out with an expected cast list. However, there are some speculations about Margot Robbie playing the lead. After Warner Bros has announced their plan of removing Johnny Depp from their famous franchise Fantastic Beast. There are also the questions arising of Johnny Depp’s return to Pirates of the Caribbean. At the same time, some suggest that his return is imminent. However, many theories are doing the rounds on Johnny’s return to the franchise. But Disney is keeping a hush lips on this matter too.
