Netflix is now the most popular OTT streaming platform around the globe. In the United States, it competes with Hulu, HBO, and Amazon Prime Videos. However, in India, Netflix has yet to overshadow Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime Videos in terms of member numbers.
You can surely use this quarantine period to binge-watch the most-watched Netflix shows of all time if you haven’t already.
2. Sex Education
3. Stranger Things
4. Sweet Tooth
6. Breaking Bad
7. The witcher
8. 13 Reasons Why
9. Emily in Paris
10. The Queen’s Gambit
This is my personal favorite show; I have binge-watched it four times. In 2020, Bridgerton was a late addition to Netflix’s library, debuting on Christmas Day. The romantic historical drama has proven to be incredibly successful, partly because of the escapism provided by a period series and because it was launched over the holiday season.
According to Newsweek, the 63 million figure is merely a projection by Netflix based on where the series is expected to finish after four weeks. Background songs from Talor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams,” Shawn Mendes “In my Blood” Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” and Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” have enlightened the show. The Mystery of the lady Whistledown gave birth to curiosity and an exciting experience throughout the show.
Netflix’s “You” and “Sex Education” have nearly identical, astronomically high viewership figures. While Netflix’s original film “Bird Box” has been viewed by more than 80 million people. In its first month of release, the British teen comedy “Sex Education” received the same 40 million views as “You.” ‘Sex Education’ on Netflix is both humorous and educational. The majority of teen dramas are about romance and adult dilemmas. However, sex education has a unique topic to discuss.
Otis (Asa Butterfield), a high school kid whose mother is a sex therapist, is the first season’s focus. Otis is interested in resolving other sexual concerns, but he is too hesitant to discuss his own. Eric (Ncuti Gatwa), Otis’ gay best friend, is a brilliant character who is both amusing and rational when discussing sexual relationships. More than just sex, the series demonstrates how teenagers deal with their problems. It’s a fantastic TV show that has appeared to debate the so-called must-talk “unethical” behavior funnily.
I’m a massive admirer of the Netflix Original series ‘Stranger Things,’ created by the Duffer brothers. The science-fiction horror drama series follows four friends and a strange little girl named El as they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries and experiments involving demonic powers. All of this happened in 1983 in the fictional tiny town of Hawkins. Season 3 had a far more exciting plot to follow than Season 2. Season 3 explores adulthood, adolescent love, and overcoming old and new foes.
In the series, there are numerous wow aspects. Season 1 had a small audience, but what was surprising was Netflix’s announcement of season 3’s popularity. According to Netflix, the sci-fi thriller was viewed by more than 64 million people in only four weeks, setting a new record for the streaming service. Stranger Things became one of the most popular Netflix series in 2019. The fourth season of ‘Stranger Things’ officially began filming, but it has been put on hold due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
After sharing watching data for the DC Comics series, Sweet Tooth has entered Netflix’s top 10 most-watched English-language originals list. Since its June 4 premiere, 60 million-member homes have watched Sweet Tooth, putting it at number six on the network’s list of most-watched English-language original series, ahead of Emily in Paris and slightly behind The Queen’s Gambit, which received 62 million viewers. With 82 million viewers, Bridgerton is the most popular English-language original. Sweet Tooth is produced by Team Downey, including Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey, Jim Mickle, Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz, and Warner Bros.
Many individuals are binge-watching ‘You,’ according to Netflix in 2019. According to Netflix, the original series starring Penn Badgley as an obsessed stalker received over 40 million views in its first four weeks of streaming. So, when Netflix released its original series “You,” I was one of the first to binge-watch it. Joe, a horrible intense psychopath who feels he is a decent guy who deserves to be loved by a wonderful girl, was one of my favorite characters.
The underlying narration by Joe himself is the most intriguing aspect of the series. It’s similar to keeping a journal. He’s expressing his emotions, desires, and desire to be seen just by his ladylove and hidden from the rest of the world. But, in his mind, he is a far too complicated figure. Season 1 of Netflix’s thriller original series “You” piqued my interest more than season 2. There are numerous reasons why “You” is one of Netflix’s most popular shows. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can catch up this weekend.
‘Breaking Bad’ is Netflix’s next most-watched, addicting, and best-ever show. I am sure that everyone will agree with me. Breaking Bad is a Netflix show that everyone advises watching. Walter White’s transformation from high school teacher to drug lord Heisenberg is remarkable. A protagonist’s gradual development into an antagonist. Walter White and Jesse Pinkman’s relationship is volatile, and it keeps you guessing throughout the Breaking Bad series. They have a love-hate relationship that has put them in a lot of dangerous situations.
When I initially started watching Netflix in late 2015, I was a little late when I completed watching “Breaking Bad.” The first few episodes were slow to pique my interest, but once I realized how compelling Walter White’s character is, I was fascinated till the very end. After years of anticipation, Vince Gilligan’s ‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad’ film was finally released on Netflix, bringing us back into the world of Breaking Bad. According to Nielsen, the Breaking Bad film “El Camino” received 8.2 million viewers in its first weekend.
The Witcher is a fantasy-action drama series that is still available on Netflix. The Witcher Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter, is the protagonist of the fictional drama series. Henry Cavill played the Witcher (Geralt), and he is one of the reasons for the series’ success. Rather than Geralt (Henry Cavill), I preferred Yennefer, a century-old sorceress. Her transition from the Yennerfer, who is cursed with a twisted spine and jaw and is mistreated by everyone.
She evolved into a full-fledged witch who is far too powerful to be defeated. Without question, the series has a huge following, but I didn’t find Geralt’s role as “The Witcher” to be that compelling as a spectator. Its part may have been more exciting and valuable to the series. According to Netflix, 76 million people have opted to watch the show, which is a considerable number.
13 Reasons Why
The Netflix teen drama 13 Reasons Why is a suicide drama about Hannah, a young lady who commits suicide for 13 reasons. Clay, Hannah’s student, discovers a mystery box containing 13 recordings made by Hannah before her death. And she tells why she took her own life in those 13 recordings. Rotten Tomatoes gives it an 81 percent rating. In the United States, the show averaged over 2.6 million viewers per episode, with the second season averaging over 6 million.
Emily in Paris
In 2020, Netflix released a new limited series called “Emily in Paris,” which became one of the most popular Netflix shows of the year. Although Netflix does not release exact audience figures, it is estimated that 676 million minutes have been watched. In the United States, the series was a great hit. Emily Cooper, an American in Paris, is the episode’s subject, and her American viewpoint on the French people, culture, and language. The issue is original, and I adored Emily Cooper as a character. During the 2021 lockdown, ‘Emily in Paris’ depicts the cultural conflict and differences entertaining to see.
The Queen’s Gambit
The Queen’s Gambit, a Netflix Original, is my favorite show of the year. With its sophisticated, well-crafted tale and Anya Taylor-outstanding Joy’s performance as Beth, the young Chess prodigy, the miniseries has captivated my mind and attention. This is possibly the only series that I have thoroughly enjoyed watching. According to reports, the limited series was seen by 62 million users in the first 28 days of streaming. It is, without a doubt, one of Netflix’s most popular shows in 2020.
