It has been almost 30 years since the great and renowned Hollywood director, Quentin Tarantino, started out his career. Over the course of this time, he has made nine major motion pictures, which have won multiple Academy Awards and have established him as one of the biggest directors of all time. Recently, when Tarantino came as a guest on Real Time with Bill Maher, he then decided to make an official announcement. He announced his official retirement and decides to hang up the hat after one last movie. Recently, he has been working towards the promotion of his new movie novelization, Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood. But as he reaches the far end of his filmmaking career, let us look at some of Tarantino’s best-selected works over the years!
It’d be an injustice if we didn’t start off with Tarantino’s movie that led him to all the stardom and fame. Reservoir Dogs, a movie that Tarantino made on a $1 million budget at the time, again turned out to be one of the most popular crime/heist movies of all time. The story played out in multiple parallels as there were six characters for the taking and they had teamed up with aliases named of colors. Although, while the heist progresses, they soon realize that one of the guys in the gang is a cop who is trying to infiltrate them and goes undercover to bring down their operation. It stars some bankable names such as Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Harvey Keitel, Steve Buscemi, Chris Penn, and several others.
Another movie that took Tarantino straight to the road for the Oscars. This movie starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, and Kerry Washington in the main roles.
It takes on a slave named Django, who is being transported away from his family during the American Civil War. Along the way, he is freed by a bounty hunter, Dr Schultz, who is looking to help Django on a rescue mission in exchange for money made off of bounty killings. Little does Django know that the person who this rescue mission is for is none other than Django’s wife, Broomhilda. She is kept as a servant by a rich plantation owner who goes by the name of Calvin Candie, played by DiCaprio. Together, Django and Dr Schultz run towards their mission of freedom.
Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2
This can arguably be the best action movie series ever made by Tarantino. Starring Uma Thurman in the main role as The Bride, this movie is based on blood-soaked vengeance. When a man named Bill causes an unexpected massacre at The Bride’s wedding, she is then out for revenge to get to Bill and end him once and for all.
What is so great about this movie is the number of fighting sequences that have taken place in the first and second movies, and how they end up as a beautiful compilation of aestheticizing movie violence. This is something that Tarantino is very well known for. Although controversy has spiked several times as to how movie violence may have a connection with real-time influence. Tarantino has defended himself by justifying his stance on movie violence and how it has no prior connection to real-time violence. The movie series also stars Michael Madsen, David Carradine, Daryl Hannah, and Vivica A. Fox in some prominent roles.
In the words of Lt. Aldo Raine, “I think this just might be my masterpiece.”. This movie is the brainchild of Quentin Tarantino as it is another story dealing with a blood-soaked vengeance during the time of the Second World War. The story is two-fold. There are two sides to this coin as on one side, there is a woman who is out for revenge to kill a German officer, Hans Landa, who killed the girl’s family in cold blood when she was young.
On the other hand of the movie, there are a few Jewish American soldiers on the run to kill Nazis and overthrow the government. The soldiers are led by Lt. Aldo Raine. It happens soon enough that both these stories collide and then take a single course. The movie stars Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Christoph Waltz, Michael Fassbender, Daniel Bruhl, and BJ Novak in the main roles. This movie took 10 years for Tarantino to make and is an absolute masterpiece.
The Hateful Eight
A movie that is filled with the best Western history references and American Civil War humor, this movie is set during the 1860s. It is based on a bounty hunter, Major Marquis Warren, who is taking a few dead bodies up to Red Rock, but on the way, he encounters a famous someone. He meets John “The Hangman” Ruth, who is taking a woman named, Daisy Domergue, as a hostage so that he can execute her in the city. Major Warren requests him for a ride as his horses died in the snow. But through all the snow they go through, they meet another man, the sheriff of Red Rock, Chris Mannix.
When it snows too much, they stop by a joint named Minnie’s Haberdashery. After that, the events that take place are filled with major suspense. To see what happens, watch the movie and break the suspense. One of the best thriller/mystery movies ever made. The movie stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tom Roth, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Walter Goggins, and Channing Tatum in the main roles.
Of course, we saved the best for last as Tarantino brings in the ultimate cinematic experience for all cinephiles. Starring Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta, this movie is arguably the best work of Tarantino that people can witness.
It is based on a fictional plot of two small-time criminals who work for a big mobster in the streets, and find some trouble while encountering a situation. Vincent and Jules are the two names echoed in the movie. They are the unforgettable duo that is sent out to kill Brett and his friends on account of messing around with their boss, Marsellus Wallace. The movie runs in a non-linear storyline and ends on the same note it started. This movie has an unforgettable cast as it has other star-studded names such as Uma Thurman, Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Ving Rhames, and Bruce Willis! This movie is the best work of Quentin Jerome Tarantino. That is a promise. Just make sure to keep guessing what’s in the suitcase.
