The thriller drama Biohackers released on August 20, 2020, on Netflix. The German TV show is all set to have a second season. Seasons 2 of Biohackers is releasing on July 9, 2021.
The show is available on Netflix to watch in German and English. It goes with the themes of thriller and science fiction. Season 2 of Biohackers was renewed just two weeks after the release of Season. Christian Ditte creates the show.
The show revolves around Mia, a medical student interested in the field of biohacking. She comes across an intelligent biology student Jasper. With the help of Jasper, Mia gets to be an assistant to experiments by Lorenz. Lorenz is a research doctor at the University of Freiburg. Mia’s sole intention for working with Dr Lorenz was to find out the truth behind her twin’s death and prove Lorenz guilty.
Dr Lorenz was working on a theory related to synthetic biology, which made her experiment on humans. Mia thought that those experiments were immoral and that Lorenz was killing people with her experiments. Unfortunately, Mia had no proof, and she had to gather some to give to someone she trusted would help her reveal the information.
Niklas, Jasper’s roommate, also befriends Mia. Mia discovers that Jasper is hoarding red-eyed mosquitoes in his house; he tells her they are for a study. However, when Mia finds the documents related to her brother’s death, Niklas catches her. Later she explains to him that Lorenz is the reason her brother is dead.
She reveals that Lorenz had experimented on her and her brother when they were young and that she had survived those tests but not her brother. Moreover, she also tells him that her parents died in a car crash, leaving her an orphan. But Lorenz, who was on sight, didn’t bother to help her, assuming she was dead. She also reveals that her real name was Emma and not Mia, That she had changed to stay anonymous from Lorenz.
Mia and Niklas
When Mia and Niklas find a clue, they go to a nursing home in a different city to meet someone. He was the only person who could explain what Lorenz’s experiments were. After learning what I had happy. Jasper had discovered that Mia was not who she said she was, and he was angry and had informed Lorenz about it. Lorenz, on finding out that one of her experiments was alive, was happy.
By tricking Lorenz by telling her that she was thankful for her life being saved, Mia manages to gather more proof for Lorenz’s experiments. However, upon realizing the true motives behind Mia’s actions, Lorenz gets furious.
When Mia and Niklas board a train to prove the anonymous person, they don’t realize that Jasper was on that train and had his red mosquitoes. He releases them into the crowd, causing everyone on the train to have a heart attack. Niklas becomes one of the victims of that attack.
Mia goes to negotiate with Lorenz, giving her the medicine for the attack on a train. She does so in exchange for her DNA samples. Unaware of Lorenz’s work and motive, Jasper continues to despise Mia. However, she eventually tells him all about the work Lorenz did. When Jasper goes to the lab to check if Mia was telling the truth, he finds out that she was true. He tells her that she was right and that he knows about the experiments.
Mia goes to a park to collect proof to the anonymous person, who turns out to be Lorenz’s old friend Dr Andreas Winter. After giving the documents, Mia is kidnapped by two men in black clothes. They put her in a van, where she finds Lorenz sitting just like her.
The second season of Biohackers will bring us more action and excitement. When the first season ended, with both the protagonist and the antagonist kidnapped by someone else, the fans were confused. We don’t know why they were both kidnapped. But we can assume that the kidnappers want something to do with Lorenz’s key experiment, for which they need Lorenz.
They will need Mia as she will serve as a successful example for the said experiments. These are only our thoughts. Season two might bring more action. We might see Jasper trying to help Mia now that he knows the truth about Lorenz. If there is a bigger villain than Lorenz, can we expect to see a character change in Lorenz? We will have to wait to answer that.
Season 2 will challenge Mia more than before as now she has to fight stronger enemies. We will see a change in her motives as the season grows. Mia is going to be in a lot more trouble for apparently being immune to viruses. The bar for Season 2 is too high for us to assume anything yet.
Season 2 Trailer Hinting at a Memory loss
The trailer for Season 2 was recently released on YouTube by Netflix. The trailer shows a very different version of the show from what the fans are expecting. It shows that Mia now has no memory of her life for the past three months and is confused by the changes the world around her has seen, from before she remembers. She also finds out that she’s not dating Jasper, which the fans will probably be happy about. Mia has no memory from the time she was kidnapped along with Lorenz. The same goes for us; even we don’t know what happened after that. We might find out in Season 2.
