The Netflix Romantic drama TV series Virgin River is all ready to come back for season 3. The showrunners have given the fans more things to be excited about with the news of a third season. The third season, like the first two, will have 10-hour long episodes.
The first of the show Virgin River released with ten episodes on December 6, 2019. The second was renewed soon after. It was released on November 27, 2020. A month later, the series announced a third season. Virgin River Season 3 is ready to release on July 9, 2021.
The show is about Melinda “Mel” Monroe, who goes to the Virgin River, California. She goes there to work as a midwife and nurse practitioner and to escape her tragic past. Instead, she meets Jack Sheridan in Virgin River, a restaurant and bar owner. Melinda realizes that life in the Virgin River will not be as easy as she expected.
Season One starts with Mel leaving Los Angeles and coming to Virgin River to start a new job. She gets hired by the mayor of the town, Hope McCrea, to assist the town doctor. Though the Doctor, Vernon Mullins, was not pleased by Mel being hired, he gives her one-month probation. However, things start to go haywire in Virgin River after Jack finds an abandoned baby in a laundry basket. When Mel tries to help the baby by arranging for someone to care for, the doctor gets angry and fires her.
On the other side, Jack sees his ex-girlfriend, Charmaine but doesn’t have any feelings. But Charmaine, who thought Jack likes her and that their relationship is deep, isn’t aware of how Jack feels. Other stories are going around in the town. A woman called Paige had escaped from her husband with her child without having custody. She gets some help from Preacher. They end up doing something very bad, trying to save Paige and her son. Brady, a friend of Jack’s, is back in town. He gets a job in Jack’s restaurant and bar but loses it after some time due to his illegal activities. Mel is having post-traumatic nightmares from the day she had lost her husband, Mark.
Mel and Jack start to grow extremely close and develop feelings for each other. Charmaine is upset that Jack is attracted to Mel and not her. But soon, it is discovered that Charmaine is pregnant, and Jack is thought to be the father. The season ends with Mel trying to Virgin River after informing Jack about Charmaine’s pregnancy.
The second season begins with Mel deciding to return after saying goodbye to her husband Mark’s grave. Back in Virgin River, Mel is asked to help with Charmaine’s pregnancy by Doc. She finds out that Charmaine might be having a high-risk pregnancy. Hope and Doc are having issues in their relationship when someone else asks Doc out. They have to keep their relationship secret. Charmaine is asked to stay with Hope until she gets better.
Mel does an ultrasound and tells Jack and Charmaine that they are having twins. Jack gets cold feet about having twins and tries to improve the situation and make it better for the babies and Charmaine. Along with that, Jack and Mel grow close again, and upon finding out, Charmaine gets upset. Jack gets in trouble when he gets involved unnecessarily in the illegal business and becomes a target for the illegal dealers.
A lot of people get in trouble, including Brady, who Mel asks about what was happening. In the last episode, Doc is revealed to have some health issues. But the most important part was that Jack was found by Mel lying on the floor of his bar with a gunshot wound.
What Happens in Season 3?
The fans were very surprised with how Season 2 ended. They are speculating as to who shot Jack and have many theories in mind. Fans have come up with so many possible names for Jack’s attempted murder. There are several plot guesses by desperate fans. Some fans think it might be Brady who shot Jack, with high possibilities. Brady was shown as an outcast, and he did not play along that well with others. But we are not yet sure who might have been behind that gun.
The cast members themselves have been hinting that it could be anyone, even Charmaine. We know that she was angry with Jack for choosing Mel over her, and she did not want him to be a part of her twin’s lives. So who knows! She tried to make it possible by herself. We will know only after we watch.
We might see more of Jack and Mel’s romance now that Jack needs more attention and, well, Mel is a nurse. Who better to take care of him than her? Except for his sister, who we will see in Season 3. We know by the look of the trailer that Doc might be having trouble with his eyes; we will find out more on July 9. Other relationships have bloomed in the previous seasons, and we might get to see them more this time.
