The Conjuring 4 has not been officially announced yet, but considering the fame, the previous movies in the franchise have earned, including the recently released The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, we may get to witness another great milestone for the franchise. Another film in The Conjuring series would be something the fans will love. The franchise has given its audience a total of 8 films that have jump-scared them. With some of the other aspect keeping them connected, the stories of these films have become one of the most liked horror film stories in the industry.
The Previous Films
The Annabelle series and The Nun series have shown to be connected to the original Conjuring films, and as of course, the fans are aware the events occur in the same universe. The Annabelle doll was first seen in the first film, The Conjuring, which then gave birth to how the doll came to be and the story behind its possessions. The Nun, the film released in 2018, was based on a character from The Conjuring 2. The film was set in the year 1952 and is the oldest of all events of the universe.
The Conjuring, the first film of the series released in July 2013, was liked by the audience. The Conjuring 2 that released in June 2016 did justice to its prequel as expected by the fans, and the third film of the series, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It released in June this year and has received a positive response. So if there is a 4th Conjuring movie, it can be assumed that the audience will like it. A sequel to the film The Nun was announced and might be as scary as the first one. And another spin-off feature film of The Conjuring 2 named The Crooked Man is in development, and the fans might be able to witness it soon enough.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, released worldwide, in theatres, and on the online streaming platform HBO Max on June 4, 2021. The film was previously set to release in 2020, but the released date was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The third movie in the Conjuring film series and the public’s response towards it will most likely decide the fate of The Conjuring 4, other than the will of the filmmakers.
The Conjuring franchise has been one of the top film franchises worldwide, along with the Marvel and DC franchises. It has marked its place in the people’s hearts and has scared them so much that the people would love to watch more content from the series. The horror film series of The Conjuring franchise has always been of consistently low budget, which increases the possibility of more projects by the makers.
The Warren Couple Return for Another Exorcism
The Devil Made Me Do It once again revolves around the couple, Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) Warren freeing people of demonic possessions, as they have been doing from the first film. Ed and Lorraine Warren are the fan-favourite duos of paranormal experts and investigators who have solved numerous extraordinary paranormal cases, set in the 1970s and 1980s, throughout the three films. There were several cases that the couple helped solve in the 1980s on which The Conjuring 4 can be based upon.
The actors Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga might come back as the iconic Warren couple and mesmerize the audience yet again with their extraordinary skills in demonology and the Paranormal. In the 4th film, The Conjuring 4, we might also get to see Sterling Jerins, the actress who plays Judy Warren, daughter of Ed Warren and Lorraine Warren. Judy was seen in The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2, and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.
A plot twist?! We hope so!
The fourth possible movie in the franchise might revolve around the same Warren couple solving yet another horrifying case of spirits and Demons. The storyline of the Conjuring 4 could be anything from something related to the previous three movies, an extension of one of them, Or it could be a whole new storyline where the Warren couple will battle more different kinds of Demons.
The Conjuring 4 might also have more towards proving the existence of Demons and other paranormal beings to the court of law as it was in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, in which for one of the murder trials, they claimed demonic possessions as a defence. The fans could expect more quarrels between the law and the paranormal and the dilemma of convicting a demon of murder. The fun of watching the law being in disbelief of the supernatural world, of demons and spirits. It might just be something everyone would enjoy.
The Mastermind Behind the Screen!
Two of the last three movies of The Conjuring universe, The Curse of La Llorona, also called The Curse of The Weeping of the Woman, and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, were both directed by Michael Chaves, which can hint towards the possibility of Chaves directing the most expected The Conjuring 4. Michael Chaves is also known to direct mini-series and The Curse of La Llorona was his first theatrical film. The director has made two of the significant films of the franchise might even get the chance to showcase more of his work with another Conjuring film.
Timeline and Release Dates
The Conjuring (Film 1) was set in 1971, The Conjuring 2 in 1977, and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It in 1981. So we can assume that The Conjuring 4 can be set after the year 1981. We can also expect the timeline to be set before 1977, with a storyline revolving around how the Warren couple Ed and Lorraine came to be paranormal investigators.
The Conjuring universe and the films about it that released over the years are set in a different timeline, though the films’ events can be arranged consecutively. As the period gap between the first three films was 2 and 5 five years respectively, the fourth film can be expected anytime around 2023-2025. The film may not be officially announced yet, but the fans can expect another horror film to be added to their lists. The film might give justice to the legacy formed by the very first film, The Conjuring.
