German director Roland Emmerich has directed numerous hit films in Hollywood. He has widely known for his disaster films as well as action films. Some of his films include Independence Day (1996), and it’s sequel Independence Day: Resurgence (2016), Stargate (1994), 2012 (2009), Godzilla (1998), The Day After Tomorrow (2004), White House Down (2013) and Midway (2019). Now he has a new film on the way! Emmerich is returning to direct a disaster sci-fi after eleven years.
Moonfall: About the film
Roland Emmerich’s next film is titled Moonfall. Moonfall is a science fiction disaster thriller film. Emmerich is producing the film and is also the screenwriter for the film. Herald Kloser is co-producing and co-writing the film. Emmerich and Kloser wrote the script for Moonfall while they were working in 2012.
Moonfall: The plot of the film
A space crew travels to the moon after an asteroid strikes it, sending the moon on a collision course with Earth. Life hangs in the balance with just weeks to go before impact. The astronauts must race against time to save the Earth.
Moonfall: The cast of the film
The film’s cast includes Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, Charlie Plummer, Stanley Tucci, John Bradley, Donald Sutherland, and Eme Ikwuakor.
Halle Berry will portray a former NASA astronaut turned administrator whose previous mission holds clues about a forthcoming catastrophe. John Bradley will portray KC Houseman, a scientific genius who accurately predicted the catastrophe. Stanley Tucci’s role is not known yet, but his character’s name is Tom Philips. There is no information on the roles of the rest of the cast members.
Moonfall: Production of the film
Moonfall announced in May 2019. The film’s budget set at $150 million, which makes it one of the most expensive films of all time. Josh Gad was initially cast in the film, but he had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Certainly, Emmerich previously collaborated with Patrick Wilson on Midway in 2019. Thus, Emmerich wanted Wilson to star in another film. Casting for the film completed in June 2020.
Filming for Moonfall began in October 2020 in Montreal. Filming intended to start earlier in the year during spring but had to delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On October 23rd, Halle Berry posted a picture of herself on Instagram with a caption, – “Officially out of #Quarantine – ready to get to work! #Moonfall here I come!!”
Moonfall: When is the film releasing?
Lionsgate is distributing the film and will release the film in 2021. The makers haven’t announced an exact date yet as the film is still filming. The film, however, may release in late 2021. Thereby with the increasing threat of coronavirus in the world, a lot of rescheduling is happening. However, there is no official confirmation or an update about the release date for the film.
Roland Emmerich’s films are well known for their entertainment value, and his next film will be entertaining too. The film will be a great visual spectacle. It will also be action-packed and thrilling as well! It is going to be an amazing movie.
