Happiest Season promises to be just as happy as it sounds. Directed by Clea DuVall, the film is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. As the world finally start waking up to gender sensitivity, the rom-com is going to feature a love story for the modern age.

Centered around the story of two young women, the film is going to be one to remember. The information surrounding the film is scarce. But DuVall promises to be extremely honest in showing the tribulations of love among the pair. At the same time, the movie might prove to be just the kind of heartwarming film experience we need these holidays.

Written by DuVall and Mary Holland, the film has been in planning for a long. In 2018, the film’s distribution rights were acquired, and DuVall was announced to direct it. The director was quick to sort out her primary cast. But the rest of the roles required a much longer time to scrutinize.

There wasn’t much news about the film’s production. And it was expected that Happiest Season was going to be yet another casualty of the pandemic. However, it was later announced that the film was able to complete its filming just before the pandemic.

The entire filming was wrapped up in just a month. It was swift work by the crew, and the film is set for its release later this year. Initially, the film planned to hit the theatres on November 20, 2020. However, a slight reshuffling in the schedule by Sony forced the movie in shifting the date to November 25, 2020.

Happiest Season: Cast

The film made it’s intent clear by the cast it had chosen. Kristen Stewart was the first star to sign the project as far back as in 2018. The following year saw Mackenzie Davis joining the film, to round off a powerful pairing.

The pair is going to share the screen with Mary Steenburgen, Victor Garber, and Alison Brie. Other members of the cast also include Aubrey Plaza, Dan Levy, and Ana Gasteyer in key roles.

Sharing Holidays with your parents is not always easy. And Abby and Harper are going o find that out the hard way. When asked Kristen Stewart had to say, “I love when a holiday movie makes you long for an idea of home but also examines how hilarious and hard reality at home can sometimes be.”

Being deeply in love, Abby decides it is the perfect time to propose to her girlfriend. And none can be a better time than the Holidays. So she decides to propose to Harper when they are visiting her parents. However, there is just one problem. Harper has yet not come out to her parents.

For those hoping to catch the first glimpse of the pair, you have a piece of bad news. There is not a trailer for the film yet. However, chances are, you wait is going to be short-lived.

Happiest Season is going to be a great movie, which many remain excited about. The film will be tackling an issue that is considered taboo in many households. And those are the exact barriers the movie will be trying to break. The world needs a movie on this subject is done right. And Happiest Season might be the one.
