Fatherhood will see the famous face of Kevin Hart in an entirely new role. Directed by Paul Weitz, the film is based on the memoir Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love. It is going to see Hart’s character Matthew take care of his only daughter after the death of his wife.
Kevin Hart has so far made a name for himself in the action and comedy genre. The movie is going to present him with plenty of opportunities to showcase his acting pedigree. A New York Times bestseller is always the right place to start. Weitz will look to do justice to his source material and match the expectations of the audience.
Fatherhood: When is it Releasing?
The journey of the film so far is enough to give you whiplash. The film was first announced to be in the making back in 2015. But following a complete overhaul in cast and crew, production began last year with the film initially expected to release in April 2020.
But last summer proved to be fateful for Hart. As he barely escaped life-threatening injuries following a car accident. The film’s release was then juggled around a couple of dates, before finally landing on April 1, 2021. That gives the film and Sony a viable window to revive after the pandemic’s effects on the entertainment industry.
Fatherhood: What is the Cast?
It was Channing Tatum, who was the first cast as the lead of the movie. However, in 2019, Kevin Hart replaced him for the role. He is going to be joined by Alfre Woodard as Marian with Melody Hurd appearing as Maddy.
Anthony Carrigan and Lil Rel Howery will also be joining the cast as Oscar and Jordan, respectively. With Paul Reiser, Deborah Ayorind, DeWanda Wise, and Teneisha Collins rounding off the rest of the cast.
Fatherhood: What will it be about?
The movie is expected to be based heavily on the book by Matthew Logelin. It captures the struggle of Matthew to take care of his daughter. Everything in his life seems to be perfect until his wife passes away just hours after giving their child’s birth.
The responsibilities of his daughter keep Matthew steadfast. He learns to adapt to a new life. And successfully fill the void left behind by wife with Maddy. It is a painful and inspiring tale of love and parenthood. Sony has so far kept most of the details under wrap. But the film will look to receive the story on the big screen with very little changes.
Fatherhood: Is there a Trailer out?
Unfortunately for the excited readers, there is no word on a trailer yet. But it is hoping that the wait for the film’s first glimpse won’t be long now.
The story is a heroic tale of survival. It is powerful and moving. Therefore needs to handle this with utmost delicacy. The film has high hopes riding on its back. And will look to not disappoint with the final product. But given the cast, it seems likely to be a significant hit of next year.
