Loki Season 1 Release Date, Cast, Plot, And All Latest Updates

Loki Season 1 TV Show Poster

Say His Name! LOKI! The notorious God Of Mischief is returning to the MCU which has got Marvel fans worldwide excited. Fans who have wanted a film on Loki will be getting something way better instead, a whole miniseries! Loki has been everything but trustworthy throughout the MCU, and it will be interesting to see what he does in his very own show!

About the miniseries

Loki is an upcoming web miniseries created for the online streaming platform Disney+. Producer and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will be producing the series. Michael Waldron has created the series and is also serving as the series’ screenwriter. The director of the series is Kate Herron. The miniseries will be a part of Phase Four of the MCU along with WandaVision and The Falcon And Winter Soldier.

Who is in the cast?

The amazing Tom Hiddleston will be returning to reprise his role as the evil yet charismatic God Of Mischief, Loki. Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sasha Lane and Richard E. Grant are joining the cast as well. Chris Hemsworth could likely reprise his role as Thor in a guest role along with the other Avengers cast members in guest roles as well.

The plot of the series

As everyone witnessed in Avengers Endgame (2019), Loki steals the Tesseract after the Battle Of New York in 2012. He uses the Tesseract to travel through time and alter human history. This version of Loki will be the original evil one as he hasn’t been through the events of Thor The Dark World (2013) and Thor Ragnarok (2017) which completely changed his character.

Since Loki has always been a supporting character yet a scene-stealer in the MCU films, the series will now entirely focus on him. The series will also reveal where he escaped to after getting hold of the Tesseract in Avengers Endgame.

The miniseries will be having a total of six episodes. Producer Kevin Feige revealed that the series would directly tie-into the events of Doctor Strange And The Multiverse Of Madness (releasing in 2022). The sequel to Doctor Strange will be featuring the much anticipated Multiverse. This means that Loki might also have a direct encounter with Doctor Strange.

Production of the series

Ever since Loki first appeared in Thor back in 2011, fans have been asking for a solo Loki movie. Plans for a Loki film began in 2017. In 2018, Marvel Studios had begun planning several limited series for Disney+ for many supporting characters who didn’t have their own solo films. Tom Hiddleston revealed that planning for the series was done six weeks before the release of Avengers Infinity War (2018) and the series was kept a secret until it’s an announcement at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019.

The series began filming in January 2020. The shooting was done at the Atlanta metropolitan area. However, production was on halt in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the filming had to be suspended indefinitely until further notice. Production was then resumed in September.

When is Loki releasing?

Loki is expecting to debut in 2021 on Disney+. The official release date hasn’t been announced yet as the series is yet to complete production.

The fact that Loki is returning is definitely exciting, and the solo miniseries revolving around him will be nothing but mindblowing! Tom Hiddleston is definitely going to nail this one (like he always does). The series is going to be entertaining as well as awesome and filled with fun!
