Kenshi, the sandbox, squad-based RPG game is getting a sequel. This RPG/RTS amalgamation from Lo-Fi Games is in the very early stages of development at present.
The sequel to Kenshi was announced via Steam platform quite hastily. Taking cues from the old Mount & Blade games, the sequel to Kenshi is currently under development.
Will the sequel have the same engine?
Kenshi 2 will share the first game’s codebase and engine. But Ogre (engine) will be updating to a new version.
Kenshi 2 will be developed and published by Lo-Fi. The CEO of Lo-Fi games, Chris Hunt reveals some plans about the sequel. Hunt mentions that there is a major change in development plans. The developers have now switched to “unreal engine”.
The upgraded engine will have amazing graphics which will give a better performance. There will be fancy features, like cloth physics for example. The players can also expect a new pathfinding system.
What will be the storyline of Kenshi 2?
Kenshi 2 will revolve around adventure and real-time strategy. It is endless sandbox gameplay and hence it will not follow any linear narrative.
Anyone can play as a trader, a thief, a rebel, a warlord, an adventurer or a farmer. One could also be just a portion of food for the cannibals in this RPG game. The person will assume the role of a character to survive in the post-apocalyptic world. You will start the game with no skill set. As you complete the levels, you will have more powers.
Kenshi 2 will be set before the events of the first game. It will go up to 1000 years in the past, which will take the players to the time of the Old Empire.
When will Kenshi 2 release?
Chris Hunt reveals that the series is in development. He explains:
“Our original plan was to keep the new project quiet so we could work on it without public pressure and then do a big press release when we had something to show. However, it seems lots of people are having confusion. Also are angry about us not still tinkering with Kenshi or leaving the world of Kenshi behind, so I’m going to go ahead and announce early what we are working on now, as I think it will put most people at ease.”
As of now, there is no official announcement about the release date of Kenshi 2. The first version was available on December 6, 2018. The developers had spent around 12 years to release the first version. It was primarily led by a single person who led the development.
Is the trailer available?
The developers of Kenshi 2 have not released any trailer as of now. This role-playing video game is immensely popular among gamers. It has an 84% rating from PC gamers. On Steam, it has a rating of 9/10. Similarly, Games Skins has also rated it 9/10.
While the sequel is still is in production, the developers are prioritising gameplay instead of graphics. So, get ready to play during the time of the Old Empire, in this upcoming sequel to Kenshi.
