Even before the release of the show, Messiah was famous. Right after seeing the trailer, it attracted so many people with its concept. The premiere of the first episode was on December 3, 2019. But the entire season’s premiere was on January 1, 2020. News about the second season was doing the rounds.
But there is some disappointing update about the second season. Netflix is not giving a green signal to the Messiah season 2. This comes with enormous regret, but here is everything about the show that everyone should know.
What is the plot of the show?
The plot follows a man, Al-Masih, who claims that he is a reincarnation of Jesus or Isa. He arises in the Middle East and makes many people believe in what he is saying. He gets popular among multiple people because of the strange, mysterious, and god-like things happening whenever he is around. The man is now getting popular globally, which is giving rise to suspicions about who he is. A CIA officer is put to the task of investigating the true identity of this man.
Speculations suggest that if there is going to be a season 2, it will focus a lot more on the return of Jesus as the first season did not end on a cliffhanger. Al Masih’s powers are unusual, and further investigations about him will be in progress. Apart from this, the global popularity of Al Masih is giving him some benefit to connecting with his followers. The part about how he is going to use his followers and where the story will lead is unknown.
The Cast of Messiah
The second season stands cancelled as of now. There is no update on a new cast list because of the same reason. But here are the cast members of the first season who are most likely to return as when the show does.
Mehdi Dehbi as Al- Masih
Tomer Sisley as Aviram Dahan
John Ortiz as Felix Aguero
Melinda Page Hamilton as Anna Aguero
Michelle Monaghan as CIA Officer Eva Geller
Stefanie LaVie as Rebecca Aguero
Sayyid El Alami as Jibril Medina
Jane Adams as Miriam Keneally
There is one prominent fan theory that is recently getting extremely popular among the Messiah fanbase. This theory is solely on the name of the character who claims to be the reincarnation of Jesus, Al Masih. In Arabic, the word means the chosen one, whereas it somewhat translates to a messiah who is a deceiver in Christian Arabic. The theory has a lot to do with linguistics, but it might have some relevance to the show’s storyline.
Is there going to be a second season?
Currently, Netflix is not going to give a green signal to the show anytime soon. The makers were sad about it when they were to release an update to the fans. But they also said that seeing the potential and the popularity, there is a huge possibility that some other streaming platform picks it up. There is also the possibility that when Netflix is ready, they pursue the show further.
So keeping all the hopes high and fingers crossed. Everybody wants a return of the Messiah with a second season. The only thing to do is wait until there is further update on the same.
