There are many movies and shows where zombies have often plagued the world, and the future seemed dreadfully gruesome. Ever wondered what a zombie apocalypse would have looked like during the middle ages? We have all seen in the movies how the present-day situation would be dealt with, but how’d people in the 16th century fight a zombie apocalypse with their primitive means and resources? Hard to imagine, right? Not for Kim Eun-hee and Kim Seong-hun, the writer and the director of Kingdom, respectively.
A cocktail of political, period, horror, and thriller drama, it is Netflix’s first Korean Original show. It is one of the most popular non-English shows on Netflix, with two seasons available to watch. Read on for further updates on the third season of the show.
Kingdom Season 3: Release Date
Netflix first announced the show back in 2017, and the first episode went on air on January 25, 2019. Even before the first season release, the show is already renewed itself for another season. The producers must have liked how the show was developing. The second season dropped on March 23, 2020.
There is no update for Kingdom Season 3, probably due to the pandemic situation. Production activities throughout the industry have taken a significant hit. Interestingly, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Kim Eun-hee.
“Kingdom gives me more energy the more I write it… there’s so much more to tell. If viewers allowed, I would love to see it develop even up to season 10.”
Well, that is something hope-giving to the fans. Ten seasons might seem to be a far-fetched reality for now, but who knows, it might go on considering the popularity of the show.
Kingdom Season 3: Cast
Though there is no official announcement for the cast, it won’t be hard guessing a few prominent faces considering how things turned out in the second season.
Ju Ji-hoon and Ryu Seung-ryong will reprise their roles if everything goes well. It is fruitless to play this guessing game beyond this because we all know how 2020 has turned out. One thing is for sure that we won’t be seeing a few faces who fell victim to the plague. Jun Ji Hyun is cast in 2019, but her role is only revealed when she appears to be the culprit spreading the resurrection flower. So, she is a strong candidate for a return in Season 3.
What Happens Next in Kingdom Season 3?
It is tough to say how the show will progress and unfold. The identity of the woman trying to spread the plague is still unknown. The upcoming season could explore her involvement with the Ming Dynasty to annihilate Korea. We’re yet to see if Seobi’s long research has found any cure for the plague other than the submerging trick. The possibilities seem to be endless and exciting.
Things look bleak for a release in 2021 but let us hope it makes it to our screens as early as possible and since it will be a long time when you see Kingdom season 3, hope it brings along news for another season.
