Sony is working on the live-action Cinderella reboot. And it is undoubtedly one of the most notable movies currently under production. So, this time Sony steps into Disney’s shoes. It is adapting this classic to produce a live-action remake. And, yes, this magic is going to be a musical comedy. All thanks to this original idea by the late show host, James Corden.

Kay Cannon is directing the movie. As of now, many details of this untitled live-action Cinderella remake is under wraps. The production is delaying due to the Coronavirus pandemic. But, according to the Deadline reports, by mid-August, the film brought back the crew and cast.

Produced by Columbia Pictures, the shooting is mainly taking place in the UK. Similarly, Kay Cannon is carrying out some low-level shooting outside London. And it is expecting that the shooting will continue till the end of September. For this, the cast and crew will be extensively tested regularly during production to keep up with the safety norms. The reports say that “robust safety protocols” are going to follow.

This latest re-imagining of the classic fairytale is set to release next year. It will release in theatres on February 5, 2021. Columbia Pictures had announced the project in April 2019.

The latest remake of Cinderella has a studded star cast. Everyone has their eyes on Camila Cabello’s debut role as Cinderella. And, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed it. And it also mentions that Camila will be “integrally involved” with the music of this classic tale.

The Tony and Grammy-winning actress, Idina Menzel, is playing Evelyn. Evelyn is Cinderella’s God-mother.

Pairing opposite to Camila Cabello’s Cinderella, Deadline reports the face for Prince Robert. British actor Nicholas Galitzine will be playing the charming Prince. It further says that the search for the Prince was quite lengthy. And, Galitzine had “wowed the filmmakers in many chemistry readings.”

Pierce Brosnan has joined the cast as the King, father to Prince Robert.

Billy Porter is going to the role of Fairy Godmother. Porter revealed this at a panel during the 20th New Yorker Festival. In a recent interview with CBS News, Porter told more about this powerful role. As his role is genderless, this is quite liberating. “Magic has no gender,” Porter said. He recalls, “It hit me when I was on the set last week, how profound it is that I am playing the Fairy Godmother—they call it the Fab G.”

Additionally, a few more significant roles are now confirmed. Town Crier by Missy Elliott. Queen Beatrice by Minnie Driver. And, in the evil sister’s role, Maddie Baillio and Charlotte Spencer will play the same.

The mice’s friends are crucial to the carriage of Cinderella. John Mulaney, Romesh Ranganathan. And, the man behind the movie, James Corden himself, will play the three footmen.

Cinderella’s live-action remake is one of the most anticipated movies to release early next year. The Trailer is not out yet. But it will be available sometime before the movie’s release in February.
