I Am Not Okay With This came out earlier this year and instantly gained a considerable fan base and liking. The show has a 7.6 IMDb rating and a score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes. It is a teen comedy-drama web series available on Netflix. The series has an element of superpowers and other stuff as well. It is based on the graphic novel of the same name.
Let us dive in to find out everything you need to know about the renewal status of the second season, release date and plot.
Is it cancelled, or will it be renewed?
Released on February 26, 2020, I Am Not Okay With This had seven episodes, each with a runtime of around 30 minutes. Although back in 2018, Netflix announced that it had given production order for an eight-episode series, but only seven out of these were produced.
After the show’s release, fans were hoping to know about the renewal status of the show and were also waiting for the second part eagerly. Unfortunately, their hopes got shattered when in August 2020, Netflix cancelled the series after season one due to COVID related circumstances. Although the creators reported that the scripts and the production locations were ready for the second part, Netflix did not give them the green light ahead.

What is the plot of the show and what similarities does it share with the novel?
The show is based on Charles Forsman’s novel of the same name. The show revolves around the life of Sydney, a teenage girl trying to navigate through the trials and tribulations of her high school, complexities of her family and her budding sexuality.
All this with some mysterious superpowers is beginning to awaken deep within her. The show ended on a cliffhanger and a dark twist when Sydney blows up Brad’s head and kills him. She then runs off to woods where she is approached by a mysterious man who says that everyone should be afraid of him.
The story ahead would have explored more in-depth into the powers on Sydney and might have had more characters with superpowers to make their way into the show. Moreover, we find that her powers are related to her emotions; therefore, she must learn to handle her feelings to avoid any further causalities.
While the novel was much darker, the show does not seem to take much from the source material for the same reason.
Unlike the comics, we don’t expect Sydney to blow up her head anytime soon.
However, according to the novel (and a major spoiler ahead), the figure who confronts Sydney at the end of the show turns out to be her dead father in the story.
Fans still expect the show to renew after pandemic ends, but until then there isn’t much to say. But keep sure to remain connected with us for more such exciting news about your favourites shows.
