Let us dive in to find out everything we know about the upcoming Kung Fu Panda movie including its release date, cast, plot and other exciting news.

When will it release?

The first Kung Fu Panda movie came out in 2008 and the second movie came in 2011. The latest i.e. the third part of the franchise came out in 2016.

Initially, the fourth movie was going to release in 2018, but that never happened.
It was rumoured numerous times that Dreamworks plans to produce six parts of the franchise. The makers proclaim that they prefer to go slow with the story of Kung Fu Panda as it is beautiful enough to tell itself.

However, Dreamworks production has not yet given any official information about the fourth part of the franchise.
The production was dropped due to coronavirus, but there are talks to resume the idea are never-ending.

Who will reprise the roles and who are the new characters?

The voice-over actors for the characters will reprise their role as

  • Jack Black as Po Ping
  • Angelina Jolie as Tigress
  • Dustin Hoffman as Master Shifu
  • Seth Rogen as Mantis
  • Lucy Liu as Viper
  • Jackie Chan as Monkey
  • David Cross as Crane
  • James Hoang as Mr Ping

Just like the previous parts of the franchise, we could expect a new villain with different powers and intention in the upcoming film. On the other hand, there is a possibility that the creators could go for a different approach altogether.

Expected plot and other details

It was rumoured that the next part could have a female villain. Moreover, the team will fight against their equally matched opponents and the movie will not just focus on Po. So we could see more characters than the last few films. Many have speculated that Master Shifu might die in the next part and give the characters a self developing arc.

To clarify, this is not the official plot of the movie and could be just a fan’s speculation. Dreamworks is yet to make any announcement regarding the plot of the fourth movie of the franchise.

Even though a concept of bringing a female warrior other than Tigress would be an interesting choice. In recent times, many movie franchises have emphasised on increasing the feminine roles in the movie.
Seeing Tigress into action while Po takes the back seat for a while will truly be an awesome treat for the viewers. Moreover, in the last part of the movie, Po was able to master his Chi and this could be recurring move in the upcoming movies. Just like the finger hold move from the first movie, this could become another trick of Po in coming story.
