Gilmore Girl’s reboot was a significant surprise for the ardent Gilmore Girls fans. Netflix’s resurrection of one the most loved series of the 2000s was a delight. Gilmore Girls is the first series to get a reboot treatment in 2016 with the original cast. While fans speculate a possibility of continuation of this revival, it seems ambiguous.
Amy Sherman-Palladino revives the miniseries as a sequel to the original Gilmore Girls (2000-2007). The sequel once again stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel in the lead role.
Possibility of Season 2 of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life
Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino seem to be open to the idea of continuing the reboot. But this is just rumored speculation.
“We just want people to watch these. Some people haven’t seen them yet,” Sherman-Palladino spoke with Vogue. The Palladino’s were eager to bring back the series. With a lapse of nine years, fans were keen to know what their Gilmore Girls are up to. For seven long years, the viewers had grown up with the mother-daughter duo of Rory and Lorelai. Hence, a year into their life is exactly how they need.
“We didn’t go in there with any intention of wanting to do more. There were no discussions between us and Warners or us and Netflix of having anymore. We all went through this journey, thinking we just wanted to make it an extraordinary event. So that is where we are right now because we’re so tired and exhausted, and the kitchen still smells like butter.”
Also, Amy Sherman-Palladino is consistently busy with her other shows. She is at present engaged with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime. Hence, it doesn’t seem likely that she will pick up Gilmore Girl’s reboot at present.
Lauren Graham, who plays Lorelai Gilmore in the series, adds to the speculation. In her interview with People, she elaborated, “I also think if there were ever even some sort of reunion, I would never want to blow that.”
Cliffhanger Ending Explained
“Mom?” “Yeah?” “I’m pregnant.”
These words come to a shock to the audience as much as to Lorelai. The final four words bring the series to a full circle. The stark similarity between Rory’s and Lorelai’s life is unavoidable.
Rory’s pregnancy reminds us of Lorelai’s life. “A circle-of-life moment”, Rory is 32 now. She was exactly double the age when Lorelai was pregnant. Like her Mom, she isn’t married, and like Christopher was to Lorelai and Rory, Rory’s baby will possibly not have their dad around at all times. But- who is the dad of Rory’s baby? It is the biggest secret the show holds. The most probable answer seems to be Logan, but it is not inevitable.
The creator of the show, Amy Sherman-Palladino, always had these four words in mind. But since the Palladino’s left the performance by the seventh season of the original series, they were not able to use it. Hence, with the revival, these words come across as the perfect ending.
