There’s a new movie coming to town based on the best-selling novel by Paulette Jiles that’s set in the day following the Civil War called News Of The World.
The historical drama that’s starring the widely revered Tom Hanks will be hitting theatres on Christmas this year, that is, 25 December 2020. Initially, this movie was in development at Fox 2000, but once Disney retired the label, its production has gained enough speed for an early release. But with the ongoing pandemic that this date may be extended as all production in Hollywood has been halted.
It will follow the unlikely friendship between Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd, who’s from the industry of newscasting, and the 10-year-old kid that he’s tasked to bring to her relatives who’d been kidnapped by the Kiowa Indian tribe. As they make their journey into the wilderness full of terror, the two will face insanely huge challenges that are of both, human and natural forces.
While the role of Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd will be played by the two-time Oscar winner, Tom Hanks, the 10-year-old child lead will be played by the 11-year-old German child actor Helena Zengel. Michael Covino will also be joining the cast.
The movie’s script has been penned by Luke Davies, known for writing Lion, Life, and an upcoming Catch-22 miniseries. The film will be produced by Hanks and Gary Goetzman producing through Playtone along with Gail Mutrux and Pretty Pictures.
