Candyman is an upcoming sequel to a movie in 1992 of the same name directed by Nia Da Costa and co-written and produced by Peele and the team.
The original story revolves around a Chicago based student Helen (Virginia Madsen), who explores the famous folklore of Candyman.
Candyman is a ghostly-figure who is summoned by anyone who spells his name five times in the mirror, and then the summoner is killed by him by a hook attached to his right hand.
The setting is based in a Cabrini-Green housing project that is notorious for a string of unresolved murders that are claimed by its residents to be committed by Candyman.
The story is an adaptation of the short story ” The Forbidden” by Clive Barker (collected in Books Of Blood) about the vengeance of a ghost who goes on killing to perpetuate his legend.
As of now, there is no official trailer. However, Peele has released a teaser in advance of the trailer’s premiere on Thursday.
