It has almost been a year since the fourth season of Lucifer came out and ended shockingly. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for the fifth season which will be released in the upcoming months. The devilish drama is created by Tom Kapinos and is based on the DC Comics character, Lucifer by Neil Gaiman, Sam Keith and Mike Drigenberg.

The first season premiered on Fox on January 25, 2016, which was followed by a second and third season on September 19, 2016, and October 2, 2017, respectively. Fox then cancelled the show, but after a long fight and numerous petitions, the show was revived by Warner Brothers Pictures and Netflix for a fourth season. The fourth season released on May 8, 2019, and the show was then renewed for a fifth season. Here’s everything we know.

Lucifer Season 5 Part 1: When Will It Release?

Over the months, the showrunners have been teasing fans with clips and teasers from season five. And fortunately, now we have received an official date for the first part of Lucifer Season 5. The fifth season is going to be the final chapter of the show and will be divided into two parts containing eight episodes each. The first part is slated to release on Netflix on August 21, 2020. Yay!

The titular character of the series will be back for the fifth season, Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar. We will also see Lauren German as Detective Chloe Decker, Kevin Alejandro as Detective Daniel Espinoza, D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Lesley Ann-Brandt as Mazikeen, Scarlett Estevez as Beatrice Espinoza, Rachael Harris as Doctor Linda Martin and Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez.

The fifth season will also fresh faces as a part of the cast. We will see Chaley Rose as Destiny Page, Erin Cummings as Mandy, Brianne Davis as Detective Dancer, Matthew Bohrer as Donovan Glover. There is also a return, and we will see God played by Dennis Haysbert.

Joe Henderson, one of the executive producers of the show spoke to Entertainment Weekly, ‘We have a lot of exciting ways, and one way, in particular, to do it that launches an awesome, awesome season five. We did spend some time digging into what we think can be season five’.

The fourth season saw Lucifer with good and bad qualities. He also returned to rule Hell and defeated a hell lot of demons. Of course, they will return, but it won’t be easy to uphold his title as a King. The first episode of season five will go by the title, ‘Really Sad Devil Guy’. A trailer is still awaited.
