Since their hugely successful series Sherlock, Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss returned this year with their latest show. Dracula was a 21st-century retelling of the classic Stoker novel. And as was the case with Sherlock, the duo did not disappoint us.
The mini-series turned out to be a bigger hit than was expected. They were premiering on BBC One and Netflix, the series released on New Year’s Day. Viewers thronged to the show almost immediately. And the series posted massive viewership numbers.
When Will Dracula Season 2 Release?
The success of the first season quickly led to the rise of speculations about a possible Season 2. To some, that would mean a bit of an overkill. The series concluded the first season with an appropriate cathartic ending. After which many feel there is not any need for a sequel.
However fueling the speculations, Gatiss had stated that he wouldn’t mind reviving the Count for a second season. That kind of statement does fuel the rumours of a sequel. However so far there has not been any information about the producers willing to renew the series. Even if Dracula returns to our screens, it won’t be until 2022.
Who Will Return For Dracula Season 2?
The directors have been forthright in accepting the impeccable acting performance from their cast. So in case, the series returns not much can be expected to change there. The series can’t just return without Claes Bang as the titular character.
And with Dracula, be assured his arch-nemesis is not going to leave him be. That would mean another appearance from Dolly Wells as another of the Helsing bloodline. Also, another of the Gatiss roles won’t be far away.
What Might Happen In Dracula Season 2?
To be honest, the series does not need a sequel. While the story steered away from the novel in many moments, the series concluded with Dracula accepting the sweet release of death. The creators might go to undo all their works in Season 2.
Or they can choose a different path and focus on the Count’s past. That will include looking into the history of house Dracula and exploring his ancestry. But it seems the creators are rather fond of the theme of re-incarnation. So we might be getting a different version of the Count.
