If you’re into murder mysteries and thriller shows, Prodigal Son is the new show you should be looking at. The show has only had a first season that premiered on September 23, 2019.

Created by Chris Fedak and Sam Sklaver for Fox Networks, it received a good response for its initial run-scoring above par ratings.

Prodigal Son centers on Malcolm Bright, who has worked at Quantico and FBI and now works as a profiling consultant for the NYPD. He is a son of an infamous serial killer whom he got arrested as a kid but now has to reach out to him for a case he’s working on.

The series has been commissioned for another season so, let’s find out about it.

When Will It Release?

Prodigal Son' Renewed for Season 2 on Fox | Hollywood Reporter

The serial killer drama was the last one of the shows at Fox Networks awaiting judgment on its future, and in October 2019, it got the green light for a second season. Fox is taking precautionary measures with pandemic proof scheduling, holding a number of its shows for the second part of the 2020-21 season in case the pandemic prolongs and hinders the production further.

Therefore, Prodigal Son is most likely to see an early 2021 release with no date fixated yet.

The first season had a 20 episode run, and the second one will probably follow suit.

Any Teasers or Trailers Released?

Tom Payne, who plays the show lead Malcolm Bright, uploaded a teaser on his Instagram account, which looked ominous but not a shocking since the show is all about similar stuff.

The teaser shows Malcolm’s younger sister Ainsley, who encounters his father and a creepy tea party hosted by a little girl and ends with flashes of her face splattered with blood.
