Critical Role is a tremendously popular Dungeons & Dragons role-playing web show. And its upcoming animated series The Legend of Vox Machina originally started as a fan-supported Kickstarter campaign, which became successful and set the record for the most-funded TV or film project ever.
After the success of the Kickstarter campaign, CR intended to release ten episodes of Vox Machina. Then, Amazon Prime Video came on board and ordered another additional 14 episodes, making it 24 episodes in total across a span of 2 seasons.

In March 2019, the team of Critical Role wanted to raise 750,000 USD, to finance an animated Dungeons and Dragons digital special. But within 45 days, their campaign raised about 11.3 million USD. This project was the most successful in history as it raised lots of money.
As the franchise raised money for one season or ten episodes, but now fans will get two seasons together with 24 episodes. Both seasons will stream on Amazon Prime Video.
