Roberts has only confirmed that the sixth season of Outlander will take place during the American War of Independence and that Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will meet “a new group of settlers.” As it was built, the fifth season was preparing us for the War of Independence. As always, the series looks back and recovers some stories that may have been left on the road, which is told in the books.

It is clear that Sam Heughan returns as Jamie Fraser, in the same way, that Caitriona Balfe will return as his wife, Claire. In the same way, without the need for anyone to confirm it, we know that Sophie Skelton returns as her daughter Brianna Randall Fraser and Richard Rankin as her husband, Roger Wakefield. We are still waiting for the official announcements from the makers to confirm the star cast.

The sixth season was announced at the same time as the fifth. The forecast was for it to be released in 2021. but with the delay in production due to restrictions because of the Coronavirus, it is not so clear now. It is confirmed that, like the fifth, and unlike the previous four, it will have twelve chapters.
Sam Heughan, in an online appearance, has spoken about the filming situation for the new season of Outlander. In a live chat with presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, Sam revealed that the bosses of the series are working hard behind the scenes to get everything back on track.
“We were supposed to be shooting right now, and obviously, things are still up in the air a bit, but I’m hopeful we’ll be back before we know it. In fact, they’re already planning it.”
