It’s been quite a while since Justice League came out in 2017. Since that, DC’s approach has changed, and deviating from Marvel’s complicated, interconnected storytelling, DC’s latest box office hits Aquaman, Shazam! and Birds of Prey do not even acknowledge the existence of other superheroes in the DC world. To top things, Joker is set in an entirely different timeline.
Amidst all these changes DC is making, we can’t help but wonder about the fate of the sequel Justice League 2 which was once promised to fans? With DC’s new approach, will it be possible for a big team-up movie where all the superheroes gather in one frame to happen?
WILL THERE BE A JUSTICE LEAGUE 2?
Plans for Justice League changed and took a huge U-turn when Batman v Superman came out, and then in 2016, it was announced that plans to film the sequel would be further delayed to make time for Ben Affleck to work on The Batman.
So there is quite a long history associated with this anticipated movie and things are further complicated as Snyder is believed to have reportedly departed from further projects concerning Justice League because of difference in artistic opinion between him and WB.
Right now, a sequel seems to be way off in the future and won’t be happening any time soon as Ben Affleck is also no more Batman and there’s the possibility that Henry Cavill will drop out of the Superman role.
WHAT ABOUT THE SNYDER CUT? WILL IT MAKE JUSTICE LEAGUE 2 POSSIBLE
After Justice League was released, there were strong responses from fans and huge backlash and demand such as the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign, as it was quite apparent that the final released movie was definitely very different from what Snyder had originally planned. With Zack Snyder’s Justice League coming to HBO Max, fans believe that this will make it possible for a sequel to happen.
So the chances for Synder to continue and make a second movie really depends on how well received the SnyderCut will be. Let’s hope for the best!
