The show is created by Alexi Hawley and first aired from October 2018 to April 2019. The second season released in 2019 and lasted till May.
The Rookie follows the life of John Nolan, who becomes the oldest Rookie in the Los Angeles Police Department. While studying at Pennsylvania State University, John finds out his girlfriend is pregnant and decides to drop out and start working in construction. At the age of 45, now divorced John helps police in a robbery and resolves to quit his construction work and join the police force. He moves to LA and joins the Police Academy, becoming the oldest Rookie in the LAPD. Now John has to navigate his life as a Rookie in a place everyone around sees him as a mid-life walking crisis.
Will There Be Season 3 Of The Rookie?
Right after the release of the last episode of season 2, ABC renewed the show for a 3rd season. There has been no official announcement about the release date as of yet. Given the current pandemic situation, the 3rd season is unlikely to come out this year. However, as productions have begun resuming work, we can expect the new season in mid or late 2021.
What Will Be The Plot Of Season 3?
Last season ended on a cliff-hanger where we saw John finding a stash in his apartment as the police arrive. The third season will trace the aftermath of this incident. Also, John has to come in terms with the fact that his mentor is an informant to the American mob.
