Ex-Arm is a popular Japanese science-fiction manga series written by HiRock and illustrated by Shinya Komi. The series is a remake of Ex-Vita. Shinya’s earlier manga. The serialization of the manga began in February 2015 in Shueisha’s seinen manga magazine Grand Jump. It went online to Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ website in December 2017 and completed it in June 2019.

Fourteen volumes of the series have been published since August 2019. A sequel to the manga called Ex-Arm EXA kicked off in Grand Jump Mucha in August 2019. In August 2019, Shueisha’s official website announced that an anime adaptation would be introduced.

EX-ARM Reveals New Key Visual From Manga Artist

On August 19, 2019, Shueisha’s official website announced that an anime adaptation is set to premiere in summer 2020 in Japan. The news was disclosed on the wrap-around band of its latest 14th tankobon volume released on the same day in Japan. Details about the cast and staff are kept under wraps. The official announcement of the TV anime adaptation was made in December 2018 when its previous 13th tankobon volume was released.

The manga started its serialization in February 2015 in Grand Jump, followed by its online shift to the Shonen Jump+ website in December 2017. On June 26, 2019, manga’s last chapter was posted. And there are 14 tankobon volumes. The sequel Ex-Arm EXA set five years after the original launched in September 2019 in Grand Jump Mucha set to release on August 28.

The storyline of Ex-Arm anime:

The plot, set in 2014, revolves around Akira Natsume, a high school student who seems to have a phobia of electronic devices but is also an expert in diagnosing them. He determines to change himself for good and have a girlfriend like his elder brother.

Unfortunately, Akira dies in a car accident. After 16 years, a special policewoman and her android partner restore and activate a highly advanced AI and a superweapon called Ex-Arm. However, surprisingly, later, the AI turns out to be Akira’s brain!
