Aquaman is perhaps the most significant DC creation following its release last year, surprising almost everybody. Warner Bros and DC are said to develop a sequel after Aquaman’s release, but it took until February 2019 for its official confirmation.
The original movie’s co-writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is hired to write the sequel’s script. James Wan is returning as producer along with Peter Safran. So what’s to know about the return to Atlantis?
Aquaman 2: Release Date
Warner Bros declares that the sequel will be in cinemas on December 16, 2022. With 2020 being fruitful for DC – we’ve Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 1984 coming – it’s no surprise that we’re waiting until 2022 for Aquaman 2.
The pandemic isn’t an obstacle for the production of this movie as we hope that this epidemic will be over soon and that we all would get to enter 2021 with a clear mind and atmosphere with breathable air without any face masks and go back seeing our favourite superheroes in the theatres with our friends.
What to expect from Aquaman 2: Potential Cast
Every major player is returning for the sequel. Jason Momoa (Arthur Curry) that is Aquaman, Amber Heard (Mera), Willem Dafoe (Vulko), Patrick Wilson (Orm), Nicole Kidman (Atlanna), Yahya Abdul-Mateen (Black Manta) and Dolph Lundgren (Nereus).
We will be seeing David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick responsible for the screenplay and story of the movie, while James Wan would be the producer. The director of the movie isn’t confirmed yet. But we know for sure with James Wan supervision, the movie is going to look amazing.
Momoa is super excited for a sequel that he proposed as an idea to Warner Bros even while they were in the middle of shooting for the first film.
What to expect from Aquaman 2: Role Of Villans
There are some villains from the first film, namely Patrick Wilson’s Orm/Ocean Master. Aquaman’s evil half-brother may have been stopped, but Aquaman spares his life. Wilson confirmed he’s in the project, but was reticent on revealing any details.
“I’m briefed [on Orm-related matters]. I throw a little dart here and there.”
While Ocean Master and Black Manta are chief villains, there are pretenders to the throne who want to destroy it among his rogues’ gallery.
There’s the parasitic entity by the name of The Thirst, Mera’s evil sister Siren, Atlantis’ resurrected former monarch the Dead King, or the ocean god Triton – plenty of villains to choose from. And if there is a worst-case scenario, they may always tap Queequeg, Iceberg Head, or the Malignant Amoeba.
