Neo-noir and fantasy are two genres that have slowly faded away into obscurity. Game of Thrones temporarily revived the fantasy genre in 2011 and effectively killed it for the fans last year.
Amidst all the chaos of superhero and comic book shows and films, a little gem from Amazon Studios found a cult following. Created by René Echevarria and Travis Beacham, Carnival Row Season 1 was praised for its visuals, performances and ideas.
Although the execution of the ideas was a point of criticism. Still, the audience loved the inaugural season. Amazon Prime has renewed the series for another season. Here is everything we know.
Carnival Row Season 2 Release Date:
Last year in July, Amazon ordered Carnival Row Season 2. The principal photography hasn’t started yet. A delay in production due to COVID-19 pandemic is a possibility. However, it is safe to assume that the show will be out in summer 2021.
Carnival Row Cast and Characters:
The lead cast will return in Carnival Row Season 2. Cara Delevingne will be back as Vignette, Orlando Bloom as Philo, David Gyasi as Agreus, Karla Crome as Tourmaline, Jared Harris as Absalom, Breakspear Indira Varma as Piety Breakspear and Tamzin Merchant as Imogen Spurnrose. Rumours are circulating regarding new additions to the cast.
Plans For The Future:
In October 2019, Amazon Studios announced a change in the showrunners. Co-creators René Echevarria and Travis Beacham will not return for Carnival Row season 2 due to “creative differences”.
Erik Oleson, who worked for Arrow and Daredevil, is reported to replace the two as the showrunner. This may not only affect the plot and character development going forward. But the overall style and tone of the show may change.
Carnival Row Season 2 Plot:
As mentioned earlier, the plans for the future season may change due to a new showrunner. Although it needs to follow up the setup season 1 created.
Carnival Row season 2 will focus on the fae’s fight for liberation against the formidable new alliance of Jonah Breakspear and Sophie Longerbane. On the other hand, Imogen Spurnrose and Agreus Astrayon are on the run after their fight with Ezra. Season 2 will show us where they are heading and whether they escape or not.
The crime and mystery elements made the show popular among the fans. It would be dumb to change the style of the show from both creative as well as business point of view.
