All the contestants live in the same apartment, but they don’t meet face-to-face during the course of the competition. They are also cut off from the outside world, meaning they’re in complete isolation.

They can communicate with other players using their exclusive profiles on a specially-designed app.

The app allows the contestants to portray themselves in any way they choose. They can opt to present themselves as a completely different personality (catfish) to the other players.

The players can chat with the entire group or specific contestants. The app also sends out alerts for mini-games designed to allow the players to get to know each other better and to even win prizes.

At the end of every episode, the app prompts the players to rate each other. The contestant who gets the most votes becomes an “influencer” and has the power to block a player and eliminate them from the game.

The has been compared to Big Brother and Catfish in its format, and Black Mirror episode “Nosedive” in its concept of ratings.

Following is the official overview by Netflix:

“Status and strategy collide in this social experiment and competition show where online players flirt, befriend and catfish their way toward $100,000.

There is no word on the release date yet. The prevailing Coronavirus outbreak has brought in industry-wide delays, so filming can’t get underway for the time being. However, Netflix has started online auditions to gather players for Season 2.

This brings us to our next segment: CAST FOR SEASON 2

The players haven’t been announced since the auditions have just begun. In Season 1, a total of 13 players appeared. However, only eight players were announced at first. The five players not announced prior to the show’s premiere joined later during the course of the show.  We’re expecting the same to happen in Season 2.

The show is a perfect amalgamation of real and reel world. It is a new concept in Reality TV, and we’re here for it.
