A live-action urban fantasy film, Detective Pikachu, based on the very famous Japanese animated franchise, Pokémon, is coming back to the cinema with a sequel and we just cannot wait!
When is releasing?
The first part was released in May 2019 and months before its release, in January, an announcement was made stating that they had already started working on the sequel. Oren Uziel (screenplay writer known for 22 Jump Street) was chosen as the writer for the sequel.
An exact date of release hasn’t been announced yet. However, based on the previous release we are expecting Detective Pikachu 2 to hit the theatres at the end of this year, i.e. 2020 or early 2021!
Who has been cast?
It’s difficult to predict the cast without any official announcements because we are pretty unsure about the characters which will return in the second instalment or if we’ll get to see new faces in the sequel.
We are mostly expecting Ryan Reynolds to return as Harry Goodman and Justice Smith as Tim Goodman. Ikue Otani will be the normal voice of Pikachu, and Rina Hoshino and Kotaro Watanabe will return as Mewtwo probably. Rachael Lillies might be the voice of Jigglypuff.
What is the plot?
Everyone is heavily speculating what the plot of the sequel will exactly focus on? Because the previous movie ended on a very good note, with Tim’s father regaining his own body and Pikachu becoming normal again.
This, unfortunately, takes away the endearing aspect of Detective Pikachu, so the fans are desperately waiting for the trailer to drop.
Until then, the fans are quite busy trying The Detective Pikachu game. However, most of them are a little disappointed, some stating that the film is way better than the game.
However, with the no official announcement leading up to the film, let’s just go see for ourselves how the game is and keep our Pikachu spirits alive!
