The protagonist Nathan Drake is an experienced treasure hunter. The series kicks off with Drake finding the coffin of a long-lost relative, Sir Francis Drake. Together with Elena Fischer, a reporter, they try to unravel the mystery. They find Sir Drake’s diary in the coffin, which locates El Dorado, a mystical tribal chief. This brings a start to the many ahead missions that are based on the main four games in the series with several smaller installments. The movie will be a prequel to the game series.

Out of all the games, the film adaptation is chiefly based on the most recent game, A Thief’s End. It is the prequel to the entire series of the game.

According to Collider, the movie has been in talks since 2010. But due to the changing directors, it was hard to see a future for the film adaptation. However, at the beginning of 2020, Reuben Fleischer was roped in for direction, the seventh director for the series. Hence, no future for a further sequel or in the game series is in the talks. But a comment from Mark Wahlberg has made us believe that it would be a film to indulge in:

“I felt like I was reading a movie and watching a movie, and it felt like Indiana Jones meets ‘Thomas Crown Affair meets a Bond movie.”
