Star Trek Discovery has been finalized to return back on screens for its third season. The CBS All Access web series picks up roughly a decade before the events of original Star Trek series.
The Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman created show made its debut in 2017 and follows the adventures of the crew of USS Discovery. This year, the web series will continue its journey to distant corners of the universe.
Star Trek Discovery: Date of Release
Alex Kurtzman was the first to confirm it on twitter that Star Trek Discovery will be renewed for the third season. On January 18, 2019, an official announcement was made regarding the release of its latest season.
The season seemed destined for a 2020 April release but not anymore. Like the rest of the entertainment industry production of Star Trek Discovery was also seriously affected by corona pandemic.
The series was in its post-production when the pandemic broke out. As of now, we are still unclear about the season’s release date after the disruption in the schedule.
Star Trek Discovery Season 3: Trailer
The first trailer for season three was released in October 2019. It showed us the condition of most of the cast as they were sent 930 years into the future. The trailer also presented us several questions that can only be answered once the season comes out.

Season two of the show ended on a major cliffhanger. The fans were finally given a peek of our characters in the latest trailer as they find themselves stranded 930 years away from the present.
From where we stand it seems the majority of the season is going to take place in the future. Another question in front of us is whether USS Discovery can return back to the present.
Star Trek Discovery Season 3: Cast
The present plot ensures Captain Spock and Pike might not appear in this season. Those sent into future like Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones and Mary Wiseman might be the focus of the season. It would be interesting to find out.
