Netflix’s The Stranger is one of the weirdest shows the streaming giant has produced. From the premise to the execution, everything about it is unconventional. The mystery thriller is one of the most binge-watched shows last month. However, the story is not complete yet. Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger. This could very well be a sign of the series returning. Here is everything we know about The Stranger season 2.
Will There Be A Season 2?
As mentioned before, the story is not yet finished. Season 1 finale left fans with more questions than answers. This is a common trope among mystery shows. To end the first season on a cliffhanger, so that the viewers return for another series. Similarly, The Stranger ended with Adam finding his wife dead and killing the murderer. Although he covered it up with help from DS Johanna, this is still a loose end.
In an interview with Express.co.uk, series creator Harlan Coben answered the question of the possibility of The Stranger season 2 with a simple “Maybe.” He said that he would love to see more of it. The only thing that can stop Netflix would be the viewership.
Will The Cast Return?
It is safe to assume that the lead cast of the first season will return. Richard Armitage will return as the protagonist Adam Price. While Hannah John-Kamen will reprise her role of the titular secret revealing antagonist “The Stranger”. Siobhan Finneran( DS Johanna) and Anthony Head( Adam’s father Edgar Price) may also return in supporting roles.
Fan Theories Around The Stranger Season 2:
Season 2 of The Stranger( if we get one) will probably focus on Adam uncovering the truth of “The Stranger”. It was revealed that “The Stranger” was actually his sister. Fans of the show expect this to be a turning point in “The Stranger”‘s character arc. She was the lead antagonist of the first season but could become a protagonist in the upcoming season(s). But some consider this to be predictable. Several shows post Game of Thrones( Jaime Lannister in season 3 being the most notable example) has used this trope that it has become a cliche now. Something this unique show would like to avoid.
Nothing is confirmed by Netflix yet. But if The Stranger season 2 is given the green light, then we can expect it to begin streaming by January 2021.
