A Discovery of Witches Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Plot Everything We Know So Far

The British television program was a show-stealer when it first aired on 14 September 2018. Being one of the most distinguished web series, it has won a respectable viewership that counted up to 2 million viewers. Looking at its popularity, the show is renewed for two more seasons. According to the sources, they will follow the second and the third book, Shadow Of the Night and Book Of Life.

Sarah Dollard (Doctor Who, Being Human) and Susie Conklin (Musketeers, Cranford) are recruited as the writers of the second season. Conklin has been chosen as executive producer along with  Bad Wolf production company co-founders Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner, as well as Lachlan MacKinnon and Harkness herself.

Tranter expressed his happiness and said that the show turned out to be a smash. Viewers across different generations have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Anne Mensah, Sky’s head of drama stated that the project is an adaptation of All Souls literary trilogy and they can’t wait for a new journey that would thrill the fans with its second and third season.

Sky hasn’t officially stated any release date. Though it has indicated, it would return in 2020.

Plamer said to Collider that the filming had started in July, but the rest of the cast had started earlier as she was going to have a baby.

“It was funny, the reaction of some of the fans, when I announced my pregnancy,” she said.

According to Gloucestershire Live, the filming had kicked off in Gloucestershire, Cathedral where all worked with greenery in their background. Most of the shooting took place in Wales, and the change in location was never hurting and proved nothing could be better than this.

The protagonists Diana Bishop (Hacksaw Ridge’s Teresa Palmer) and Matthew Clairmont (Downton Abbey and The Good Wife’s Matthew Goode) will most likely return.

When Goode was asked what he loved the best about his character earlier this year by Entertainment Weekly, he said: “I love his soul and the fact that he suffers from a condition that he has to repress massively otherwise he will spiral out of control.

Besides, there is Sarah Bishop (Doctor Who and Arrow’s Alex Kingston), Emily Mather (Half & Half‘s Valarie Pettiford), Nathaniel Wilson (Daniel Ezra), and Sophie Norman (Aisling Loftus from Mr Selfridge) who could probably return.

The unfamiliar faces in the line-up airline Of Duty’s Aiysha Hart will return as Miriam Shephard alongside Killing Eve‘s Edward Bluemel as Marcus Whitmore, The Honourable Woman’s Lindsay Duncan as Ysabeau de Clermont, The Girl King’s Malin Buska as Satu Järvinen, Game of thrones, Owen Teale as Peter Knox, Waking the Dead’s Trevor Eve as Gerbert D’Aurillac, and Being Human’s Gregg Chillin as Domenico Michele.

What Be Will The Plot?

Book two of All Souls sends Diana and Matthew in Elizabeth London, which is a world of spies, deceit and clique of Mathew’s old friends, the intriguing School Of Night.

The goal is to locate a witch to tutor Diana to find the traces of Ashmole 782, but Mathew’s past takes them to the world of prolonged history and heritage. Matthew doesn’t think that time-travel is simple and also the hunt for the key to understanding her lineage could be difficult for Diana.

“Back in the present day, Diana’s beloved aunts, Sarah and Em, must take shelter with notorious witch-hunter Ysabeau de Clermont at her ancestral home, Sept-Tours.

When Will The Trailer Be Released?

 

As there is no announcement for the release date, we have to wait for quite a while for a trailer to land. In the meantime, finish watching all the episodes of the previous season.
