Gigi Hadid has quickly become America’s Sweetheart when it comes to the modelling world. With her awe-inspiring looks and upbeat nature, her style was topping both of those qualities. Hadid knows how to dress, from midriff-baring two pieces to curve-hugging dresses and plunging necklines, the model is always serving outfit inspiration. Whether she’s running in between shows, meetings, or just running errands, Hadid makes sweatpants appear to be high fashioned.
It’s pretty appalling that someone would dare to question her daily take on fashion attire. However, an individual on Twitter tweeted, “she’s such a natural beauty… IDK what happened to her iconic street style tho,” and immediately deleted it.
Gigi saw the tweet, due to it being retweeted by a fan account @doublegiforce, and responded with a shocking yet well-deserved comeback. She defended her right to dress and shut down “unrealistic expectations” about what she should wear.
The tweet outlined, “@doublegiforce Not just talking about this specific comment. You all talk about empowering women. I support and empower women that show skin and that don’t. It’s about choice. I show skin when I want to and still feel sexy covered head to toe and; will continue to do so.”
Gigi further continued to say, “ultimately, fashion is a personal thing. It’s how we express ourselves, and that’s not for anyone else to decide.”Replying to @fetishformyself, she stated, “I like what I wear and wear it for that reason. It’s not about a stylist; it’s how I’m choosing to express myself. Your opinion isn’t going to change that. Those of you who feel this way should focus your energy on praising those whose style you love. Peace.”
Surprisingly, the supermodel responded to the negative backlash, telling her fans to stop their ‘petty complaining.’ “U guys need to calm tf down sometimes [sic],” the model wrote on Twitter.
