With the announcement of the renewal for the fourth season of the historical drama, The Last Kingdom, Netflix has set all the fans of the show on fire. The Last Kingdom is based on Bernard Cornwell’s novel series “The Saxon Stories”.

The Last Kingdom’s official twitter account proclaimed the renewal of the show in December 2018. July 2019 brought itself with an invitation to the fans on the show’s Instagram page to join Uhtred ‘s journey indicating continuity of the battle. So, we are looking forward to watching the show that will arrive in 2020.
What is The Last Kingdom about?
The Last Kingdom revolves around the conflict of a boy, Uhtred, who is forced to choose between the country of his birth and the place of his upbringing. He is the son of a Saxon nobleman, Uhtred, who gets separated during the war between Saxons and Danes. Danes are gory men who abduct Uhtred and raise him as their own. Later Uhtred betrayed Danes leaving them to believe that he killed his adoptive father, Ragnar the Danish warlord. He is forced to travel to Wessex, the only kingdom out of the seven that isn’t controlled by the Danish. With profound knowledge of the Danish battle strategies, he offers assistance to the Wessex king, Alfred.
What will happen in Season 4- who is the cast?
Netflix will showcase a fresh batch of young actors, including Uhtred’s children by Gisela, as per the timelines set by the two books. Alexander Dreymon may come back with a greyer shade as Uhtred of Bebbanburg. With the alliances of the kingdoms disjointed, he considers it to be the right time to challenge Aelfric, his uncle played by Joseph Millson.
According to the confirmation made by Netflix, the show may also cast The Prime Suspect 1973 star, Stephanie Martini as Eadith, Aethelred’s new love interest. The Halcyon and If I Stay fame, Jamie Blackley will play the role of Aethelred’s new right-hand man, Eardwulf.
Where can I catch up on The Last Kingdom?
BBC and Netflix were the two platforms on which the first two seasons of the show were aired. But after the decision of the BBC to discontinue the historical drama, it is exclusively available on Netflix.
