When asked how the Endgame Co-directors imagined Cap’s retirement life, Joe and Anthony Russo had interesting answers.

So yeah, after Steve finally got his long-awaited dance with Peggy… it’s a good question, perhaps he and Peggy tried to make a baby, I don’t know.” Anthony said.

However, the duo constantly reaffirmed that Evans was well and truly done playing the character who was so well-loved by the fans.

Avengers Endgame writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus think bringing back Captain America would hurt it’s ending.

This is what they had to say.

Stephen McFeely: “I do worry that if they do stuff like that, it’ll ding Endgame in the rear-view mirror. This is such an important and such an interesting moment in movies because a very successful studio just put their tools down.”

Speaking about a hypothetical return for Cap, Christopher Markus said, ”I also don’t want to. I love writing for Cap, and I love Evans. But I feel, much like Tony, we got them to a place where they don’t need to do it anymore. I’d hate to gin up something hokey to get them back.”

Cap’s choice to go back in time and live out his years with Peggy is a beautiful end to his story. The writers are happy with where they left him at the end of Avengers: Endgame and believe it is the right conclusion to his story.

Recent rumors have linked the actor with a return to the MCU with a cameo as Old Cap for the limited series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Regardless, fans would love to see how Cap’s life was in the other timeline, and hopefully, we’ll see him again soon.
